I have a wonderful collection of nits. I enjoy picking them very much and take pride in them :) Is it ‘important’ that a preceding scene doesn’t exactly agree with 40 year old dialogue? Nope. Just a little sloppy is all. If somebody’s keen to nitpick about a Star Wars factoid though, isn’t a Star Wars forum kind of the place to do it?
    He’s told this
Then he boards and sees a mob of redshirts racing through an airlock handing off a data cartridge. Pretty sure he was able to put two and two together. If the other ship already had a copy of the plans, then it wouldn’t be sitting there docked while a maniac cyborg shows up with his boarding party and starts carving people up. They’d be getting the hell out of dodge.

So, Vader knows how the plans got on that ship, and they weren’t beamed there. No, it’s not a big. Just unseemly is all. Honestly, I’m more curious why the Tantive is there at all if Bail sent Leia to go fetch OB1. But that's another of my shinny little nits.

And yet, they did not, i.e. Leia first waited for the data carrier to be hand-delivered to her rather than to blast off the system the moment the airlock had closed.

There are so many strange inconsistencies regarding the Tantive scenes before, in the middle and after, that I'm optimistic we were actually looking at the Tantive VI with Leia waiting further out on the Tantive IV as a fail-safe plan or option to receive another transmission should the Tantive VI not be able to make it.

To quote Leia from ANH: "It's the only explanation" ;)

ANH is remarkably good, both before and after Rogue One existed. One thing Rogue One did though was that as soon as you finish watching it, you immediately feel like watching ANH straight away!

Very positive! Very fun and good film. Did give us some more info about a new hope. Catalyst, the rogue one prequel book was really good as well, one of my personal favorites from new canon.

Other than a pretty cool, seamless transition into the start of ANH, I don't really think it enhanced the film for me. But it certainly didn't hurt it in any way.

I don't gain a new appreciation for ANH or anything like that, but it gives a nice backstory to those "rebel spies" we hear about in the crawl.

Positive for me. ANH was great before, and now is even greater, imo.

I had the same feeling. I have this feeling every time I watch "ROGUE ONE".

I think R1 expands the story of ANH. It's a good addition. The only way it could've been better is if Obi-Wan had a cameo scene or 2, and Vader killed Chirrut (who should've been a Jedi with a lightsaber.)

Heck, Gareth Edwards should be doing 9 lol.

Two things that bothers me a little (a little):

1.Vader is comfortably overpowered by the end of R1 (what a scene, amagad, I stil have chills).
Next time we'll see him with his saber in ANH will be his confrontation with Ben Kenobi... and... the fight is.... :/
... so, some kind of injury he would have suffered, during that last scene, would have given some explanation of his seemingly weakness and clumsiness in front of Ben.

    2. In ANH Vader and his minions speak of "information beamed to [the Tantive]". So R1 should have ended with Jyn beaming from Scariff' tower to the Tantive, then Vader killing Jyn.

    Okay, I agree, it's a little nitpicking. That's why I underlined "a little" :) No real issue.

The BIG ISSUE is when you see Scariff and Jedha explosions, then see Alderaan's one. Ermf.

    1. Vader is cautious with Obi-Wan. The last time they fought, Obi-Wan left him limbless. He's trying to pace the fight.

They explicitly state it's not at full charge because they don't want to draw any more eyes to it than they have to.

I rather doubt it that "Rogue One" has changed "A New Hope" in a negative way for me. Especially since I like "Rogue One" a bit more.

I've watched Rogue One and Star Wars back to back many times now, and every time the opening crawl just has so much more meaning now. Rogue One has significantly enriched the saga for me.

I’ll go so far as to say Rogue One makes Return of the Jedi better because it make more sense that they’d want to build another Death Star after learning what Galen Erso did. I bet if they had gotten to finished it, the reactor would have been well protected.

Very interesting way to look at it. Never thought about it from that angle.

IMO Rogue One strengthens and improves the entire OT and certain parts of the PT.

Also, I know many folks would disagree with me on this, but Rogue One made me want A New Hope to be remastered/remade, which is something I never would've wanted before watching the movie. To see a version of ANH that has visuals and effects on the same level as RO is something that I would absolutely love.

I hope they do another marathon before Episode IX and they include Rogue One this time because I would love to see the transition from R1 to Star Wars in the theater back to back.

Apologies for being late to this party - new to the forum and I've just been enjoying going through some of these older threads.

Rogue One enhances my viewing of ANH a bit more than I thought it would, tbh. I thought the middle dragged somewhat, but that final 45 minutes is some of the best Star Wars.

Don't feel it made any difference to ANH but on it's own it is a very good movie
