SPECULATION OFFICIAL Rey Discussion Thread

We don't have a cast billing, just two separate lists of new and old characters. I don't think I've ever seen a movie cast billing ever work like that, and certainly not in Star Wars. Cast billing is negotiable (hope you got a good agent if not...). And above the title billing is often indicative of a special deal made behind the scenes.


Both Obi-Wan and Padme service Anakin's story. Not the other way around.

Adrien Brody's character is the main character of Rian Johnson's Brothers Bloom. Weisz got better billing.

I think since Finn shows up right at the very beginning of the movie after

, and Rey may not show up until a lot later like Luke in ANH (he shows up like 17 minutes into the movie, Padme shows up 11 minutes into TPM and Anakin shows up 38 minutes into TPM), on paper before editing his role may be slightly larger. But that doesn't mean more important to the narrative.

 

Perhaps Kira is pronounced "Key-Rey"

 

Ugh, no. No offense, but I think that's worse then 'Kira Rey' (Note: I would be fine if her name was either 'Rey' or 'Kira'. Together they sound, well, not so good to my ears).

Kira's Bumper Car was indeed fanmade by the 501st Belgian Garrison. The blueprints of the vehicle were actually sent by Lucasfilm. And it was on the blueprints themselves it said 'Kira's Bumper Car'. So if it was a mistake, then it was a mistake made by Lucasfilm. I mean how do you think they managed to build this without any other source than the first teaser trailer?

Yeah, I noticed that too. Looks almost black (Not that I'm complaining, I love black hair).

 

So I think we can probably say that Daisy is NOT related to any of the original cast.

It's been reported that there are shots of her looking amazed at a forest, like she's never seen trees before. This plays in with the theory/leaked info that she was born on Jakku and has never left, as she's offspring from the "tribe" of people who survived the Star Destroyer crash. If both of these rumors are to be believed.

 

Luke was the offspring of Space Hitler's Top swordsman commander and of a Queen/Senator.

 

...You know, sometimes you just don't realize how weird something you like is unless you put it in terms like that.

 

While I think she has spent a good deal of her life on Jakku I don't think she's been there forever. She's described as solitary and self sufficient. That doesn't sound like someone who was born of and is part of a tribe. While I do buy that maybe there were people stranded on Jakku I don't think Rey was part of that. That theory is kind of hinting nothing could come or go on the planet in the last 35 years and I don't buy that. Especially when it comes to the falcon.

 

Actually variety said he is for the male lead.

With that quote from Kathleen, could she be saying that Rey WILL be the lead? It seems to hint at it.

 

One of the leaked toy lists had something along the lines of "Main Hero Ride" or something, and the person who leaked it said it was referring to Rey's speeder. Unless that belongs Finn or Poe and she's only riding briefly, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say she's our Hero(ine).

 

If it's the speeder we've seen in the trailers, it would undoubtedly be hers.
