I have a feeling Rey will be quite different compared to Luke and Anakin when they started out. They had at least someone on Tatooine (Luke had Owen and Beru, Anakin had his mother), but Rey doesn't seem to have anyone. She also seems more action-oriented than them at first (Perhaps she had to look for herself?). Just look at her with that staff! I wouldn't be messing with her if she had that at hand.

If she lives by herself she would need something to protect herself.

Also with no disrespect to John, I just don't see him as the main hero the new trilogy will focus on. But with Rey, I do.

To back up what I said. I'm showing this article, which also has an interview with the CO of the Belgian Garrison, Stefan Cembolista. The article is in Dutch, but there are ways, you probably know to translate it: http://www.hbvl.be/cnt/dmf20150418_...nden-enkele-geheimen-van-nieuwe-star-warsfilm

I know google translate is not the best but I ran it through anyway:

For the Belgian Star Wars Fan Club "Belgian 501st Garrison" are the heydays. The club with seventeen members present at a big Star Wars Exhibition in California and presents five props. Which are among the main attractions of the fair.

Most striking is Kira's Bumper Car, a colossus of a half tons. In early January, the club began to build it. Remarkable, because Kira's Bumper Car is a new prop for the first time will be featured in the new Star Wars movie that only comes out at Christmas. However, the Belgian fan club could recreate this vehicle already by being the biggest secret the plans was forwarded from Lucasfilm, the film company founded by George Lucas of Star Wars Films.

"It was a very secret project," says Stefan Cembolista. He is the commander or president of the fan club. "I have therefore at Lucasfilm have to sign a contract of confidentiality. But of course we had the plans in order to recreate it accurately. And we achieved a 5 millimeter. Five weeks have we Aalst in the greatest secrecy worked on. Something build in five weeks time is fast. Much faster than they do here in Hollywood. "

But it had to happen so quickly, because the props had to get there on time on the Star Wars exhibition. Via the port of Antwerp were science fiction vehicles by ship to the United States, not directly to the port of Los Angeles. Due to a strike by dock workers that there was not. Mooring but then in the New York harbor Newark, and then the land went throughout the United States through to California. Half month transportation took Aalst - Anaheim, California.

The two producers of the new Star Wars movie, Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams, visited the stands of the Belgian fan club. Abram put his signature on Kira's bumper car and praised the Belgians. "Beyond professional" (more than professional), he called their work. The respect Cembolista of the Star Wars fanatics get is great. A famous Star Wars Specialist, Steve Sansweet, a man who wrote sixteen books on science fiction films, puts it this way: "In the world there are people who recreate in imitation of the Belgian fan club sets and attributes, but nobody does it as well as the Belgians. Stefan [Cembolista] has now become a celebrity among Star Wars enthusiasts. "

The fair itself is huge. In four days, there will be nearly 200,000 Star Wars fanatics are passed. They come from all over the world. Sunday is the Star Wars

The movies have always been ensemble casts with a primary focus. The new big 3 are Rey, Finn & Poe.

Rey too me seems the obvious primary focus. No matter who she is related to or not. She seems far less naive than Luke or Anakin.

    Poe is a space jock.

Finn if the rumors hold is a conscript. People have panned him recently because he sweets and seems scared next to Rey's cool determination. As a conscript he might not be wanting to be a Stormtrooper in the first place. I see a lot of room for fun and growth from him. Not everyone needs to be a full on action hero to be a likable and compelling character.

In the past two trilogies, you've had the three leads with different qualities and I think for the ST it could be:

Rey: the main heroine whose shoulders the galaxy's fate will rest upon. Whose evil brother, Kylo, totally despises her.
Finn: the action man like Han. Could be "act now, ask questions later" type.
Poe: the "best pilot in the galaxy".

She spends most of her life on a desolate planet. She scavenges and is good with mechanics. She (apparently) can pilot the hell out of the falcon and she's got the "when we meet our character" Skywalker garb on? JJ is either trying to pull and extremely devoted scam on us or Rey has some relation/connection to the Skywalkers I'd say.

JJ is a massive fan of ANH. If she is the new Luke of this trilogy, no wonder all these iconic scenes have been associated with her.

i think rey will be different than anakin and luke, in that i think she will be the reluctant hero. both anakin and luke jumped at the chance to go off on an adventure, where as rey will want nothing to do with it

Luke was a reluctant hero. "I can't get involved, I've got work to do....It's not that I like the Empire, I hate it, but there's nothing I can do about it now." and so on. He refused the call to adventure.

That's true but he didn't refuse it in the way that Luke did. Luke's actions resulted in punishment in the form of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru's deaths. Yes, some might say that would have happened anyway but this is mythology we're talking about. A refusal of the adventure causes fate to force the hero into action, and their deaths are what propelled Luke to leave Tatooine.

Anakin was reluctant as any child would be, but he didn't actually refuse. However, it did scar him for life that he left her, hence why that scene is given such focus. It's the reason the Jedi are taken from their parents as infants. Attachments etc

For those who think Rey has been on Jakku her whole life ....IF that is her piloting the Falcon as MSW has said it is. How could a naive scavenger girl who has lived on a desolate planet her entire life whip the falcon around like that? Driving a speeder isn't exactly the same as piloting a ship through spaces as tight as the insides of a star destroyer and making it tumble and swerve that accurately. Pretty damn good piloting.

The opening sequence begins on the desert landscape, a dusty star destroyer crashed into the sand. Looks like it's been there for many years.
Following cut, characters Rey and Finn and our favorite rolling robot BB-8 are making their way through a crowd in the fleamarket a very Tatooine-ish type of scenario.
Next, we have Rey looking through the trees, in a Yavin like scenario, as TIE fighters fly overhead
The next scene he told us about, were pilots running to their ships in their old-school style X-wing gear… yeah… orange!
Now it really starts to get interesting… Towards the end of the trailer, from behind, we will see Han Solo, vest and all. Complete traditional garb, the way we remember his, as he sits down and re-aquiants himself with the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.
As if this wasn’t good enough – brace yourselves – because this last scene has not been described by any other website yet. As far as we know, this is an exclusive…
This last scene shows a gloved hand pulling something out of a pile of ash. As it comes into the clear, it begins to take the shape of Vader’s former helmet… what’s left of it. Here’s the interesting part:
Remains of a skull still reside in the helmet.

No mention of this scene/image in there trailer description but the clothes in the falcon picture are spot on.

Various Japanese press is reporting Kathleen Kennedy and Daisy Ridley to promote SW:TFA in Japan this month.
