Unless if there is a good reason, SW's endings are usually hopeful, even ROTS and Empire's endings were hopeful albeit dark at the same time. If nothing, they want it to always be, well hope.

@cawatrooper - For all we know during their Gilligan Trip, Thrawn has had a Star Destroyer and 3 witches who could ping a Jedi's whereabouts on a whim - so I am inclined to believe that Ezra's departure from their company is a - - somewhat recent development. I think he might have attempted to play both sides, but nightsister magic is the great unknown... it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to manipulate him again. I'm not saying Ezra is the next Revan or anything of the sort - remember Dooku was taken over by Talzin once. "Gandalf and the Nine" time for me - I just have a funny feeling about all this.

    EDIT:
Or, maybe the witches owe Thrawn bc he saved them from Ezra? Who knows.

I think almost everyone will make it back "home" to the GFFA and 80% of fans will get their happy ending.

Nothing nice to say at all? Just hinting and suggesting that you hated the whole episode without actually saying it

Three Jedi, or what he considers to be three Jedi, against a couple dozen Troopers or so? The Troopers wouldn’t stand a chance. Noting that those rumours were clearly wrong given that we see several of them die in this episode. Under the circumstances Thrwan ordering a retreat is perfectly reasonable.

Ezra's actor must have studied the character and the Rebels show precisely every detail because he has every exact mannerism of Ezra from the way he acts, moves and talks

Hated? No, not at all. I just don’t have any strong feelings one way or the other on this episode. I don’t want to go so far as to call it ‘filler’, but I was definitely not drawn in at all to anything that happened.

Any thoughts I might want share would be general gripes and I don’t really feel like taking swipes at this show right now.

I'm not going to lie, I was a little disappointed by what Ezra has become. Usually I try to let an entire show play out before I give a final opinion. I will wait to see if he is who I think he should've been. Weakest episode of the series so far but it was still a very solid episode.

Did you expect Ezra to do more with the force? Like say.... force freeze blaster bolts in midair as Kylo Ren did? Bridger had less than 12 minutes of screen time.... so does that mean your disappointment is rooted there? Like, you wanted to see more of him? I don't know what Ezra has become yet, so that's why I'm asking.

If Baylan Skoll's arc isn't resolved this season and they're wishing to avoid recasting the character due to Ray Stevenson's passing, then I imagine there probably will be a fair amount of reworking that would possibly involve shifting his story over to Shin Hati's character.

Very interesting in how Baylan is so confident about his goal and feels he is close. He calmly split from Shin and told her they are on different paths but in an understanding manner and reassuring its all good. No betrayls or anything but he is simply dedicated to his path and wants Shin to be something else while knowing she won't be in his path

No, the screentime wasn't the issue. Shin batted him aside like a rag doll. Him not taking the lightsaber was weird but I didn't hate it. Either Shin is more powerful than we think or Ezra is weaker than we expected him to be. 10 years isolated I would expect him to be even stronger in the force and not thrown aside like a toy a child is tired of playing with.

I was expecting the Night Troopers to go up in a puff of green smoke when they die.

    Ahsoka the White?

Eh, I mean obviously in cases like these we have to defer to Stan Lee's take... "The person who'd win in a fight is the person that the scriptwriter wants to win!"

But I think it's at least reasonable enough to think that Ezra, Ahsoka, and Sabine weren't in a great spot there.

    - Sabine isn't really a Jedi... is not currently force sensitive, and is a less than capable saber-wielder

    - The troopers had the added advantage of aerial support, that's big

    - Ezra not having a lightsaber doesn't seem to be a huge deal, but he is vulnerable in that the Noti village was under attack. A focus on civilian targets could give Ezra cause to surrender

    - Same goes for Ahsoka- focusing on her ship and Huyang could potentially have an affect on her.

    - And, of course, Shin was there. Thrawn doesn't seem particularly interested in her, but she'd be a formidable opponent in the fight. With the numbers and firepower advantages Thrawn already had in the fight, Shin's presence could be extremely problematic as well.

    - Finally... if there are so few troopers there, why does Thrawn care? Wouldn't the strategically sound decision be to press the attack, and gain himself more time while also possibly eliminating his enemies entirely, rather than regaining what you consider to be a negligible number of forces back?

I hate to be nitpicky, and this certainly hasn't ruined the series for me by any means, but Thrawn is meant to be a strategic genius. I feel that he held his punches quite badly here.

However, my other take is that it's entirely possible this is all intentional. Thrawn has certainly seemed reluctant to dispatch troops through the last two episodes. Maybe we'll see there's a reason for that, next week.

This was I think the calm before the storm as far as episodes go, which is fun, because there was not much calm about it. The pieces are all in place now and ready for the finale of Season 1.

Seeing Coruscant open this up was surprisingly fun. Yes, sure the planet is swiftly catching up to Tattooine with screen time, but this was a slightly different slightly subdued view, which I thought was a good representative of the NR in this story. I did have to pause and rewind, because C3PO made me cry and my heart skipped thinking that Leia was going to follow him into the chamber. I'm actually glad she didn't, I think using Threepio as her proxy was a fitting and elegant way to handle Leia and show her gravitas in this era without her appearance. It gave me big Bloodlines vibes and I really respect the play. Seeing Mon be a tad more resolute was nice as well. I would love to see C1-10P get five minutes in a room alone with Xiono. His reaction to "a mere droid" was classic Chopper. Oh, the NR's casual brown look is bangin' BTW. Nice to see Hera in not-orange pants.

The Ahsoka and Anakin here was beautiful. The way she comments that he was a great master and Huyang's reaction were so poignant. The space battle gave big OT vibes, and that's all I have to say about that.

I've seen a lot of whining and criticism about the amount of screentime that Thrawn has had, but I think it's appropriate. I also think Lars is killing it, dad bod and all. The witches are awesome, I love how Morgan seems so completely out of place and out of her depth. I'm curious if she will even attempt to show loyalty toward Baylan and Shin.

Speaking of Baylan and Shin, wow. I did not see that coming. Baylan just basically cuts her loose, which just doesn't make sense in the context of what we have learned from him to now. Even last week, he told Shin that he had taught her to be more than a Jedi and spoke of the future for them. I am thinking this may have been a test for Shin, maybe Baylan's idea of the Jedi Trials.

Ezra. Sabine. Ezra and Sabine... That whole piece had me torn. I loved the chemistry, I loved the exposition, but just so much left open. Where are they going? What is the plan? The Noti wagon train chase and battle were excellent Star Wars action as good as any Ewoks, Gungan, Jawa scene we have seen. I loved the Sabine and Ezra back and forth about the lightsaber and that whole fight was pretty cool. I do agree that I was hoping to see some sort of crazy Force skills from Ezra, but I can't complain, it was some good old Ghost Crew Stormtrooper wreckin' and I loved every buckethead kill that they stacked up. It also felt very Star Warsy that 20 or so troopers came off the gunships, our hero's killed about 25 of them, and yet 15 or 20 retreated back to the ships. Very Mando S2 Tython battle scene. But I love it. I loved how Ahsoka handled Baylan, defeated him without harming him, and rode of to save the day. The Shin/Ezra/Sabine "battle of the kinda-Jedis" was fun and exciting. I really thought Shin was gonna go Hari-kari when she was cornered, glad she ran, she is gonna be an even more interesting character moving forward.

So. I think it is slightly possible we have seen the last of Baylan. I don't really think we have, but it is a possibility. I think he will get one last epic monologue though. What I would like to see would be him give Shin acknowledgment that her training is complete and that she can stand on her own. Then he vaguely and heroically is shown fighting off a throng of Thrawn's forces as everyone else flees Peridea. We are left not completely knowing if Baylan Skoll survives or not, but he is left behind on Peridea. His future is ambiguous. Maybe the last shot of him is of him finding the mythical power he desires as the scene fades to black...
