This might just be a case of convenience. They needed to have the driver report to someone, and instead of adding another ISB character they used Blevin, whose arc was kind of over for the season. *shrug* As for Luthen, I assume that Lonni is protecting him?

That's his dad (presumably), Salman Paak, one of the guys in green banging pots and pans earlier. He was tortured ahead of Bix and was later hanged, I think (or did I imagine that?). The kid's name is Wilmon

Please accept we *shrug* together.....

    Thank you @Angelman

    OK.
I've read somewhere that this Salman Paak was the one Bix asked, when she tried to contact Luthen for Cassian in the early episodes, a coded sentence to go to the communicator tower.

She’s an influential and respected senator, she has long standing pacifist and pro-democracy views. She has openly spoken out against the Empire’s methods in the senate. She is therefore a prime target to be on the ISB’s watchlist. Both Mon and Luthen know that her visits to the shop are dangerous and need to be careful in covering their tracks.

Because the Empire is a totalitarian regime and Mothma is arguing in the senate for the preservation of basic rights for some of the galaxy's constituents when it's clearly against the regime's policy.

It's fairly easy to contemplate when you consider that the FBI had files and surveillance on rock stars because they sang about peace and love.

These two need their own private dicks TV show. That look in their eyes. The sheer focus, the all consuming commitment, the unflinching determination to solve the case.

Well. Now we know. The rebellion really started and the Empire ultimately crumbled because some Prefect kicked over a droid. They really had it coming, didn't they?

Everyone talks about the Karn-Dedra dynamic, but these two…I have no idea what was going on, but that unspoken moment between them when they exchange hats on the transport…a magical, powerful bonding moment.

I forgot about that. And the last shot of Mosk reverting to the stereotypical Scottish "migrant" on the streets of London.

Same here. What was the point of this exchange ?

On my 2nd viewing, I just assumed this was intended to mean that Syril stayed (or escaped) with Dedra, letting poor Linus all alone. Well... not alone : with a bottle of - blue - alcohol.

That's his father. He was captured and tortured to death by the Empire in an earlier episode.

We're also led to believe, based on Dedra's interrogation findings, that Paak was the one who attended an anti-Imperial meeting where he was recruited by a woman, likely Kleya, to keep the communication radio in operation and to provide contraband Imperial equipment to Axis. He was being paid to do so, although Bix was the one making the majority of contact.

An interesting point about that- it really shows just how secretive and underground the Rebellion was. You see Maarva and Clem were both rebels, Paak went so far as to attend a rally off-planet, Brasso obviously had no love for the Empire, even sabotaged the Corpos' shuttle. Bix was working with Paak, yet her coworker and lover, Timm had no idea. All of them were connected, close friends and family, yet none knew what the other was up to. It's a microcosm of the Rebel Movement Galaxy wide. It took one of them speaking up, even from the grave, to light the fuse. I think that was part of what hit Luthen so hard there. It was confirmation that he was right, they must all pull together, and there ARE people out there that not even he can see, willing to stand up and fight. I think up until that point, he had put Ferrix into a box as far as their purpose. He thought of them as a supply line for machinery. He had overlooked the pulsing heartbeat of Rebellion that was beating underneath the rust and grime and scrap metal. How many other invaluable resources is he overlooking?

I'm sorry, but that excuse really didn't work for me. If Mon Mothma was supposed to serve as some kind of parallel to Cassian Andor, then I believe the series' title should have reflected that it was supposed to be about more than one character. If Mothma and her family had served as some kind of catalyst or had some impact on Cassian's arc during Season One, I could have tolerated her heavy presence in this series. But her or they didn't. Which is why I found Tony Gilroy's use of her character in this first episode disappointing.

Nobody has brought it up yet, but Vel had a great showing this episode as well. That awkward, restrained heartbreak as all she wants is a kind glance or a word of affection, yet Cinta is obsessed with the ISB... ouch. After her interaction with Kleya last episode, frantically needing to reach Luthen, then he walks up to her and she seems almost annoyed. She knows what to do... Once it hits the fan, that shot of her running INTO the smoke and towards the madness- she is a badass! And Cinta gutting that ISB guy Corv like a fish was perfect.

Good catch. Yes, that was well done.
That was an amazing shot! Season one was chock-full of carefully laid-out visuals.
