So, after browsing through Disney's candidates for the role of Young Han Solo I'm not satisfied with any of the choices. Neither one of them look the part!

For those of you who know Anthony Ingruber and his famous impersonations of H.Ford's characters like Han and Indiana Jones, I have made an official petition addressed to Disney and Kathleen Kennedy. If you think he is the right guy, let's make him help score the role!

    Check him out on YouTube:

I didn't think him doing the impression helped him any but those other two clips sold me. I like this Ingruber fella.

He does a good impression, but that role in “Age of Adaline” was pretty cringe worthy IMO. I’d rather have an accomplished actor who can capture the spirit of the character than a guy who does an OK bit.

I can agree there, some parts felt a bit weak. But I pin it more on not being able to do an outright impression, and be able to be a completely different character. He had to be young William. Now with the young Han Solo, some more experience, and expanded role, coaching, and freedom, he'll be pretty good. His Michael Fassbender impression, along with old Sean Connery in Indian Jones, is pretty awesome. And since I helped interview him for the blog, he is most certainly my first choice!

Please not Miles Teller or Dave Franco! They don't look the part at all!

He looks the part, certainly. But there's a big difference between playing the role of Han Solo and doing a Han Solo impression. I'd rather he be a good actor that captures his spirit than someone who can imitate is mannerisms and vocal patterns.

Well he is a professional actor, and he has already played a Young Harrison Ford, as already mentioned.

Yeah but I have a feeling that they might go for someone a tad more well-known ...

My "backup" is Taron Egerton. He was incredible in Kingsmen.

The problem with anyone playing a young Han Solo is that they are playing an established character, played by a very well known actor, so anyone who gets the part will be basically doing an impression of sorts. My biggest pet peeve with those against Ingruber, and those stating he doesn't have enough experience, is that is exactly what makes him perfect in the same way that Harrison Ford was perfect in 1977. Ford was a carpenter, who barely had any experience as an actor, but his mannerisms and unpolished line delivery made him likeable and believable. I think the biggest thing is LOOKING LIKE HAN SOLO, acting like him, and not having us thinking "wow, this actor kinda reminds me of Harrison Ford". Some the best movies ever made had unknown actors cast, such as the Godfather I or even II. Every great actor had to have a breakout role that made them the somebody they are now.

Some of these young guys should not even be on the list whatsoever. Miles Teller?!! He looks like he has a permanent broken nose!

Trouble is: we aren’t talking about an unknown being cast in a supporting role in an experimental film. We’re talking about the title lead of a well-established multibillion dollar franchise. A role previously occupied by a Hollywood legend. In all likelihood, he’s being expected to CARRY this flick. Casting someone who has in no way proven he’s even remotely capable of delivering on that order is simply unreasonable.

If his lack of film acting was augmented by stage or TV background, then this idea wouldn’t be so incredibly farfetched. As of now though, it’s pretty ludicrous.

I agree on Miles Teller though. He makes about as much sense to me as Michael B. Jordan. He’s a perfectly competent and capable young actor with a good rep that might be able to land the persona. The only bother is: he’s not even close to looking the part and no amount of makeup can change that.

I hear what you are saying, and agree to an extent. But, I still like the idea of an unknown coming in. Any other established actor brings his silent resume to the film, so if they cast, let's say Zack Efron, you don't buy it because you see Zac Efron in a white shirt, black vest and blue pants running around on the Falcon, pretending to be Han Solo. So, it's kind of a catch 22; you need a big name to carry the film, but it also means you don't forget you are watching the actor in just another role.

However, this being Star Wars, I think an unknown like Anthony Ingruber could get away with being unknown so that you only see a young Han Solo. If his acting is cheesy in parts, it will be fine. Go back and watch Harrison Ford in A New Hope, it was kinda cheesy but we loved it.

I get your point but to be fair, it’s not like the OT leads were a group of nobodies plucked from complete obscurity. They were each working screen actors with presentable resumes when they auditioned for what was being pitched as a children’s space movie. Yeah, Ford was an employed carpenter at the time, but only because he had a family to support and acting wasn’t paying the bills.

They were “unknowns” to the average movie going audience of 1977. A few of the names on the shortlist are higher profile to those media aware, but I’m pretty sure the average housewife in Nebraska has no idea who any of these kids are. Except maybe Scott Eastwood - on account of him being all dreamy and what all.
