Haha! Well, someone is salty. Sorry that this revelation hurts you so much that you're in denial about it but hey, you're free to believe in whatever you to want to believe.

Lol. The only revelation I've had is that there are actually people who think the pt are better films than the ot and the sadness I feel for humanity goes beyond the limit of words. I'll be ok though. Atleast people are passionate about something.

Please stop basing our love of the films on nostalgia. It is unreasonable for someone to assume why I like something, just as much as it is unreasonable for me to tell you why you like something.

Who said anything about this? I love both the PT and the OT for different reasons, the OT because they will always be the originals and the PT because they tell the story of how things came to be in the galaxy by the time the OT took place. They each tell separate stories with different characters and different events.

I'm just tired of seeing people completely bash the PT like if they were utter failures, especially considering that the box office figures and movie rankings of all three movies (both in NA and worldwide and nevermind inflation somewhat because that can be arbitrary and not exactly 100% accurate) and the ratings that are on that link I posted clearly show the opposite. Luckily, contrary to what some believe, these PT bashers who are so OT biased due to their nostalgia getting in the way are in the monitory yet unfortunately, they are the loudest and most vocal of fans (hence the reason it makes it seem otherwise); it comes down to the notion of customer satisfaction in products and services as to why things seem skewers unfavorably when things seem as such - when one is satisfied with a product or service, they tell 3 people but when one is unsatisfied with a product or service l, they tell 10 people. Bottom line: I don't take these PT bashers seriously as the Star Wars fans they claim to be.

P.S. My post is not meant to be directed to everyone that loves the OT more than the PT, just those that state that they love the OT but hate the PT to the point that they completely bash it in thinking they're downright terrible/horrible and try to make others feel bad for liking any of the movies in the PT (this is the definition of being a troll by the way which unfortunately has become a popular thing to do in today's Internet culture).

Well the problem with PT was that it was a told storrie and that the old fans all had an idéa of what was in the movies.

I bet that this Will allso be A problem for some fans wiht the new movies. EU fans Might have same issues when there are no jade, ben Skywalker, lowbacca ect.

This is an interesting observation and its probably the reason why I wanted the ST over the PT even going back to the 1980's. The great thing about the ST characters is we get to root for the good guys for 3 more movies, compared to the PT characters where they aren't that likeable.

It is very hard to pull off a trilogy where the main character goes evil yet you are suppose to root for him for most of the trilogy until he goes bad? The whole PT is essentially about Anakin turning to the darkside, so its really a trilogy driven by the plot because you just can't relate to the characters struggles (or atleast I can't).

Sure the ST will have some bad guys, and possibly one of the heroes turning evil, but I'm certain that the main protagonists (Rey, Fin, and Poe) will be inherently good guys that fans can root for and care about their struggles.

I know this is off topic, but it goes to my theory that PT needed to be only 1 movie when it is all said and done. The whole point was to show how Anakin turned to Darth Vader and how the Empire took power over the galaxy. You wait for that for 3 movies, and you wonder what is the point because there is no one really to root for? But if it was just one movie (a true prequel that is supposed to be watched AFTER ROTJ), then it is a nice little backstory that gives us enough information to fill in some of the blanks we wondered after the OT was done that will segway into the ST. In many ways, the saga order should be 4,5,6,3,7,8,9, as ROTS is really the only movie you need that tells you most of what we wanted to know.

PT's problem was its set out, constantly waiting for anakin to turn
he should have been found as a teenager in ep1
turned to evil by the end of ep2
the jedi find out in ep3 and he wipes them out with the clones

You understand that the amount of money made does not a good film make, right? You understand that if the ot never was made and the pt had to stand alone you would have an entirely different reaction. See also: John Carter, Jupiter Rising, or After Earth.

They owe any success to that very same nostalgia you're asking people to leave at the door which is extremely ironic don't you think?

I agree. I mean, the movie will make it's money for sure but I'm concerned only about a good story. I want to go in to the theater with no expectations and leave feeling proud of a Star Wars film again. I don't think I left the theater once for the prequels with a really good feeling. Or if I thought it was good, I quickly remembered Jar Jar, messy sand, or noooooooooooooooooooooo. Not saying that each film was ruined because of one character or small piece of dialogue but it was just the overall film making that left me feeling empty.

I agree that to a certain extent we should already have known all of what @KyloRenFan said to be true, but I think Duh would be an over simplification. some fans really are more excited to see the original cast, and a few cheesy references to the old times. I say there's nothing wrong with that.

Oh come on! This stament "You understand that the amount of money made does not a good film make, right?" is such BS. It has no merit and people that make statements as such automatically lose credibility since it goes completely against the very basic notion that money = success = good work. Such statement are a total cop-out that don't fly in forming a strong argument in arguing the other side (and it's exactly what a prequel hater would state).

And why are we talking hypotheticals here, that if there was no OT before the PT and the films had to stand alone it would be completely different story? Who cares! The fact of the matter is the PT are Star Wars films that take place before the OT and that they were filmed after the OT. We can't change the past so why think about the "what if's". And no, I'm not so much that I'm asking people to leave their nostalgia at the door but more so that they should not automatically be one-sided and dislike the ST simply because the format is not exactly the same way as the OT and Luke, Leia, Han, Chewy, C3PO, and R2-D2 are not the main heroes anymore having the most screen time (thus the film having a slightly different feel because). That was the point of my original post.

You have just declared your ignorance and complete lack of understanding of what makes a good film. By your standards Avatar is the greatest film ever made (epic fail). Which actually wouldn't surprise me if you agreed with that since I doubt you could sit through Citizen Kane.

Again I'm struck with irony and this time for such materialism. The PT was materialistic and by my estimation your medichlorian level must be lower than Jar Jars and your Light Saber skills rival only a youngling :D.

That's the best you can do! Hah! I've seen better-thought-out insults thrown at me than those incoherent and unsubstantiated claims and insults you just threw at me. It's obvious that you have no sense of logic since you don't understand basic principles.

Maybe should should become a filmmaker and embark on a cinematography career since it sounds like you know how to make movies.

It's Star Wars people, not somethign that belongs in the drama genre that some are trying to make it out to be like if it's suppose to be filled with lines of high acting caliber that should be winning Oscars for acting performances year in and year out. All 6 films serve to us as entertainment and excitement due to their stories. It's not that deep and stop making it out to be (this goes for both the PT and OT and the ST now). Once again, you've proven that prequel bashers can't be taken seriously.

Actually I think SW movies are pretty deep for their genre, and that's what sets them apart. Most blockbusters are all flash and no substance, but a SW movie is more then that, its has an interesting story, some good drama, a touch of humor, and a bit of mythology. I think the Prequels have alot of substance, but were poorly executed and that is what is frustrating to fans like me.

Now of course Star Wars will never be The Godfather in terms of acting, but you have to watch them in a different context as both of them are right up there as my favorite films of all time. The Wizard of Oz isn't some deep dramatic movie like The Godfather is, but its still considered one of the greatest films of alltime. Again, its all about context.

I hope the ST has the same substance that the OT and PT do, but hopefully JJ can execute it more like the OT. If you want all flash and no substance go see that stupid Avengers movie that just came out.

I really feel that you and the other SW7N staff members should make a rule for this forum to not allow prequel bashing (or any of the SW movies for that matter). I'm not saying that fans can't have a preference of the OT over the PT in regards to favoritism, nor am I saying that fan's shouldn't point out flaws or make critiques of any of the movies (and I'm also not saying that we all have to have the same opinions), but to allow for people to continually prequel bash and call them bad/terrible/horrible movies outright and make others feel bad for liking any of the PT movies goes completely against the spirit of what this Star Wars fan site is suppose to be about and in my opinion, I feel as if you're doing a disservice to the general Star Wars fanbase by allowing this behavior to persist and continue. Like I've said, I can't take these prequel bashers seriously as the Star Wars fans they claim to be and neither should you.
