Oh yeah, I'm not saying he will be in it, just saying it would kind of make sense. Like, who gets an Imperial Guard security team while they're in a bacta tank?

It could also be a high-ranking enemy of the empire ? what if it's Jyn in the tank? ?

Pipes mounted to the ceiling? We've seen that in at least one other place.

That column of light with wisps of smoke (in the Rogue One image) looks almost nothing like a bacta tank except in its shape. The other features that are part of it, like the hoses coming from the ceiling to the top of the apparatus, look quite a bit like a bacta tank. At the very least (and this has been pointed out previously on this thread) the room itself is not any type of medical room. There is almost nothing there. So nothing to monitor vitals or administer medicine, etc. I don't think there is any way that the person in that thing, if there is a person in it, is on the side of the Empire.

I like the notion that a prisoner is in there. Prisoners need to be guarded. Patients don't. Now I don't really think that column looks particularly like a way to hold a prisoner captive but I'm not ruling it out. If it's Lyra Erso in the column and perhaps she's restrained or held in stasis there it would make sense for the guards to be there if she's being visited by Galen. It would make sense for the Empire not to let him see her without guards present. The Imperial guards make sense if what's in there is important to Palpatine in a personal way.

I'm just not buying that it has to be a bacta tank because we've seen something with hoses coming from the ceiling to an apparatus that is something other than a bacta tank, the carbon freezing device.

Yeah but why have Imperial guard for that? Stormtroopers would do surely.

Well if it's jyn and her dad is helping to build the death star, then she would be given the royal guard treatment I'm pretty sure .

I do not know why but I am starting to have this feeling that the scene will not appear in the movie. Please tell me that I have nothing to worry about and that we will find out on December 16.

I feel the same way. James Luceno said in the interview with Kristian Harloff that they changed the story when the reshoots were happening.

Stormtroopers are terrible. They are bullied in every Star Wars scenes.

I am really thinking there might be something to the theory that it isn't a bacta tank but a confinement field along the lines of this: IMG_0131.JPG

I agree. I can't wrap my mind around people who DON'T want Snoke to be tied to the older movies somehow. He's just some new random nonhuman who popped up and took over the empire. Just some random guy essentially. Why would anyone be rooting for that? 6/9 movies about fighting the Sith then we get some random darkside user who was apparently around but just chilling for the fall of the Empire? Wat? I know it isn't him in the bacta tank but if it turned out it was him and he'd been imprisoned by the Emperor and Vader together I would he SO happy.

It wouldn't make sense if she was in the tank. Why would anyone kneel to her? nope. It's her kneeling, she's a double agent, and that's a wounded Vader in the Bacta.

I just realized that sounds a lot like the Freemakers tv series on Disney xD. I was watching it on the plane yesterday afternoon and thinking about this thread and it would make total sense of what youre saying. She's "good" but just cant shake her loyalness to vader and because her hatred for the empire and whatnot has consumed her completely and it's too late for her which is why she wears the krystal and bows to him (?)

She's a baddy. I'll wager this whole thing was set up by the emperor to flush out the last of the rebel sympathizers in the senate..ie, the Organa family. The Emperor playing both sides seems to be his shtick.

That's usually what tends to happen with a lot of movies when a ton of money and well-earned reputations are on the line .

The black cloaked figure is Darth Vader who is kneeling in front of.... wait for it... Padme Amidala.

Think about it. We still need something to tie everything together. How do you keep a leash on Vader? You torment him with the body of his dead wife held in stasis with promises that she can perhaps be brought back from death, just as Palpatine suggested that together they could learn Plagueis' secrets. It would certainly make sense that Red Imperial Guards would oversee such an entombment. After all, Padme Amidala was not cremated as was the Naboo custom. According to Wookiepedia:

"Although Naboo custom dictated that the deceased was to be cremated at the Theed Funeral Temple and their ashes cast into the Solleu River before plunging off the cliff from the bridge between the Livet Tower and the temple,[13] Padmé Amidala's lifeless body was subsequently entombed in a stone sarcophagus ornated with the Naboo emblem and located in a private mausoleum."

I propose that Emperor Palpatine was watching all of this on his home planet and arranged to have her body taken from that private mausoleum.

Ever since Kylo Ren said, "I will finish what you started," I have asked what was Darth Vader's number one objective his entire life? To protect Padme Amidala from death. Once she was dead, wouldn't he be obsessed with figuring out a way to bring her back? And isn't this the best way for Palpatine to have controlled Darth Vader?

So, I say Padme Amidala is the one in the "bacta tank" (except that it is really her body in stasis) with Darth Vader paying his respects to her before he goes out to do the Emperor's bidding by laying waste to Krennic and recovering the stolen plans...

    ;)

I really like this, but it's unfortunately not going to happen.

Btw, there is no screencap of the shot on StarWars.com. I bet it was cut.

I'm halfway through Catalyst and had an idea:

The cloaked figure could be Tarkin (in disguise) kneeling before the Emperor, who is about to give him control over the Death Star.

I can see it. I have never been convinced like most that it is a bacta tank.

It is highly plausible that we could have Tarkin kneeling, but given Tarkin's history, he tends to be a man of action and leadership, not one for kneeling. Then again, he may only kneel before the Emperor himself and this is something we have never seen before. It is something we have considered for a very long time since before TFA: http://www.digitalspy.com/movies/st...ly-recreate-peter-cushings-grand-moff-tarkin/

Considering his role in the novel, I think it's pretty much a given he'll show up in the movie.
