Booted From TFN Boards after 3-4 Years

You were on TFN too? I'm still on there and have been since January. I haven't been booted yet, luckily

 

Not booted, but I was initially supposed to host the Paint Adventures comic over at TFN instead of the Cantina. After all the trouble I got through by attempting to start the thread, just to be denied my rather simple terms and rules of play, the restrictions they attempted to impose over me, like, for example, a blasted PG-rating, was the final straw. Don't take this the wrong way, however, I don't have anything against the moderators there. They're just doing their job - it's the rules that bother me.

I am very happy about the way the staff and the moderators have treated the thread over at the Cantina, however. Thus far, it has been the complete opposite in every way. Since its conception, the thread was both featured, had its picture size limit extended and still gleefully retains its PG-13 rating - and we're *really* stretching the borders of that rating at times. So I can honestly wholeheartedly say that the administration of the Cantina is vastly superior in comparison due to their open-mindedness and support for things that can enhance the experience of a community.

 

Not really a fan of the way the staff over at TFN run the site. I wish that politics would be banned altogether over there. That's one main reason why I was brought over to the Cantina, hopefully less politics and more Star Wars. Which is why I came on the TFN and here in the first place

 

I'm never been booted, but I've been there since last year, and while I liked it at first, it is become a reality bothersome place for me.

That's what drew me here to The Cantina.

I agree with the guy above me, the less politics and more Star Wars the better.

 

I used to go on there since early 2000s...stopped posting on the forum a couple years ago. Its not what it used to be.

 

I was banned from there in late 2001 for saying I had proof that the Jedi only used blue and green lightsabers in the Geonosis arena duel (other than Mace, who had purple). Which is funny because I had leaked materials in hand proving I was right, so I just let their competition have the spoilers instead.

 

Over there the bullies have won. On the run up to Tfa one thread kept getting locked. The misogyny dreadful, if you don't agree then your hit with the 'your a racist' jibe, they are also vile homophobic to boot. They now have the run of the joint. Nobody takes them task. There was a certain thread that you must name on there, it was not my topic of conversation so to say but I miss some of them who posted on there. I know many disliked me on that, however them posters held those bigots to account. The ones left now are rewriting the film which I adored. They are rotten posters to the core that specialised bigoted section. They have the run now, it's like the old saying. The lunatics have taken over the asylum. I actually dislike going on there now.

Sorry I had to get that rant of my chest.

 

I recently left there, of my own volition, because things were just getting too unbearable for me. The guy above me is right, the bullies have won over there.

 

Retired from modding at TFN in part because I disagreed with LifeTimeBans for people
who didn't really deserve one.
(yes, they were drunk... but if the offended Mod doesn't want them gone, do we really have to put them in carbonite, permanently?)

The sense of entitlement over there was.... disappointing.
(first 12 years were a blast, then the shroud of the dark side fell for the last 2)

Burned me out, babysitting old timers with attitudes.
(hoity toity folks are not my cup of tea, its the internet, not congress)

I like it here because everyone's a newbie.
(I'm mostly here to make fun of everything silly in Star Wars, anyways)​

 

I agree with @p03. It is really getting hard staying over there. There's really only one area of the board that I post at and that's the SWC (Star Wars Community). There's some good people over there, just not that many. Like I've said, I'm no fan of the way the site is run. I hardly have any respect for the mods/admins, there's only one guy that seems to be levelheaded and is doing his job of being a fair mod. But he's just only one, the rest are no good. A couple of them seem to be really hateful to those who are on the right side of the political spectrum. If you don't agree with them, you'll get banned.

Anyway, that's my experience with the mods over there. I will try and post on here more often

I've read through posts on TFN, but never really got into them, mostly because my parents didn't really want me to join forums until I was a bit older. However, there are huge differences here. We run the same sort of forum based on style and look, but c'mon, ours just screams STAR WARS (look at all the yellow and gold ). Just to give a bit of insight on how the site's run here, we have very close-knit staff and mod teams here. We'e had troubles and bumps here, ofc, like many websites, but we've given respect and only taken measures once deemed necessary. From the mods, simply doing your job as well as possible opens the door to staff. If we'd like, we can stick to what we want, and it's respected. Want to post on the blog? Go for it, run it by the crew and @Viral Hide, and it should have a strong chance of being posted. Even our interviews in the past have included questions from as many people in the groups as we can have. I personally used to be much more active several months ago, but because of college, I can't do much here. And yet, I've only found support and understanding. So while I can't really speak on TFN, what I can say is I really appreciate The Cantina and all it has given me.

 

SWNN simply the best. I remember my TFN days during the prequel era, basher/gusher WARS was the worst. This place is so civil, great community. TFN more like a seedy cantina wondering who's gonna shoot first... I enjoy logging on several times a day even when I'm on the road. Its refreshing. I recently went back to TFN just out of curiosity and its so bland...

Perfect description of what that place was. Its like moving out of a seedy neighborhood and into one where you can basically leave your doors and windows open, and cars unlocked... thanks for that.

 

This is a great place to post about Star Wars, i'm not going to get dislike bombed for saying i don't watch the blu ray version of Jedi because i feel like the changes made the movie worse.

 

And while I don't feel the same way, I'll respect your opinion That's how we do it here.

EDIT: Wait, I agree about the Jedi Rox scene. Vader's "No" I'm never going to have an issue with myself, but I do like it with an without his exclamation. Idk, to me, Vader is always a talker, from PT, to OT, to Rebels, and now Rogue One.

 

Nah I kept a low profile over there. They are cold with some members, never tend to get involved in that.

There's one specific member there who is so in love with his own views and his posts suggest he's an "intellectual elitist" to the extent I truly despise seeing his name on any posts.

Apparently use of SW references in the "senate" section is not ok cause TFN is a SW forum (as I was told) by said sleemo.

 

i myself have had issues with certain memebrs and will not name names but besides those issues where i being bullied, i love this forum and it's been a place of acceptance and openness which i appreciate greatly
