Quick thought: Could the guy on the throne be DJ/Benicio del Toro? The pic is too unclear to say for sure, but I think it is possible that's him.

Quick question: The red room looks very striking, but I wonder if we're actually seeing some kind of "redscreen" thing here? I know next to nothing about special effects and filmmaking but is there such a thing as red screen filming? (Granted, it would have to be for some pretty weird stuff, I imagine). In any case, the reflection on the floor is great!

Motion capture work would be filmed separately, but he'd be on set as a point of reference for the other actors.

 

It could also be a random member of the crew. He's too far away to be sure.

I've googled both "red screen" and "red screen film" and the only red acreen I've got is the one which appears when a serious error occurs in an OS, so I don't think they would use a red screen in the same way as they use blue or green screen. What I think is the most likely explanation for it is that this set was still incomplete and these huge pieces of red cloth would be covered with something (at the front of the shot there were safety barriers used typically in the UK during all kinds of construction works.)

 

Yes. it could be; unusual though. Green and blue screens are the traditional choice for chroma key effects because those colours are absent from skintones, but I guess with a mixture of green/blue skinned practical effect aliens (for example) that red screen could work. Who knows???

 

The main color in human skin tones is red, so that wouldn't really make much sense. I think it's Snoke's throne room.

 

They used bluescreens on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and Yondu has blue skin.

 

Wow! bet they had to do a ton of digital masking. Looking at the amount of red in the costumes/set doesn't look like there were many colour options.
I'm always an Occam's razor fan in these situation. Red screen is possible, but pretty unusual. If there's a simpler explanation (and several suggested here) it's more likely. Just wanted to point out that Chroma keying can technically be done with any colour.

 

It could theoratically be done, but it'd unnecessarily slow down the post production workflow. Camera sensors aren't as sensitive to red color, which means there's more noise.

 

so they amount of lightsaber combat scenes we got from Daisy and Adam in this teaser hint to there being more than one show down in the film. Do we think Daisy is fighting the preatorian guards (I realise thats not the exact name) and is Adam doing the same? or is a shot from Kylo Ren's training? I doubt its a training scene actually as that doesn't have muich oomph in relation to tension and emotional progression. I think Kylo Ren's training will be more of a 'journey' where he has to go and learn about the 'dark side'. I'm just gonna go ahead and guess that the helmet smashing scene co encides with him fighting some preatorian guards or something.

as for Daisy, she's fighting with that staff sometimes, or a double ended saber. Do we think Luke takes the family saber from her and keeps it for a while? so she has to use the staff again?

These care cute no doubt joining Rey on her swim.

 

It's been discussed (http://makingstarwars.net/2016/12/rumors-star-wars-episode-viii-and-the-protectors-of-ahch-to/) that Rey is going to fight some type of sea creature. It may loosely parallel Luke's Tree experience in TESB, probably a way of Rey growing in the Force somehow.

 

Perhaps we're going to see the rest of the fight Kylo vs Clan, we've already seen in Rey's visions.
As for Rey, what if she comes in help against thsoe Phasma's guys?
Just to say, we don't have enough to be sure...
