Im not worried. From what I have seen so far, it looks like it will be great (but I know looks can be deceiving). There opinions are just that, theirs. I will form my own after watching. They haven't said its terrible. It's been described as different from the beginning. With Mark saying it is his favorite after ESB and to me ESB is at the top, that is a good sign. Especially after he seemed to have differences at first with the direction for Luke. LFL and Disney seem to really like it if they gave Rian his own trilogy after it. I mean, look at what has happened when they didn't like what a director was doing!!! Not worried at all.

If Kylo and Rey don't French kiss at precisely 1 hr, 4 minutes, and 34 seconds into the movie, I will renounce all things Star Wars, and have myself hypnotized to erase all memory of it from my mind!!!

Pfff which each movie this kind of conspiracy thinking and worrying returns. I've also heard them say how amazing it is. Even Mark Hamill confessing he was extremely satisfied by the result. And Daisy Ridley even going as far as to say that her role is awesome, but Adam Driver's is amazing. Furthermore the fact that Disney has complete confidence in this movie (which is always based on critic, fan and general audience test viewings), is enough reason to believe the movie will be great.

But the real question is: what is it with you Star Wars fans these days. Why always assume the worst and argue from the negative. I'm seeing this kind of attitude with every star wars movie since the advent of the internet. Its annoying.

The love of Star Wars is so great, if it's not the incredible masterpiece we've built up in our minds we're disappointed. I think the fan that goes in to a new Star Wars film cynical is doomed from the start. Avoid spoilers, go in blind and I'm pretty sure most fans will enjoy themselves.

Some people always forget that Empire when it was released received lukewarm reviews at best.
George Lucas even apologized for it if I remember it correctly.

All of this all of this all of this.

Literally if Luke is Childless, Rey as a random being stronger than Anakin, Anakin is a false chosen one, Rey the real chosen one, and Reylo come true, I'll just refer to Star Wars as Episodes 1-6, and the old extended universe. Cause this crap, it ain't Star Wars. It's Disney's 2017 sociological Star Wars story.

Who says Star Wars NEEDS to surprise fans? That there HAS to be a great twist that fans are wrong about? Plus with all the cast seemingly indifferent, I have to say my expectations aren't very high. I was beyond excited for this, but given the talk, it's dwindled. I am Star Wars since a child, but I was way more excited for Thor Ragnarok than this.

Let us all stay positive, not negative, and confident, but not overconfident. Sit down in the cinema chair with an optimum expectation, not over the top. Do not set targets, as we do not know what we are getting. Believe in what Lucasfilm has brought to the table this time around.

Anyways, I love watching the Behind the Scenes trailer more than the official trailer and teaser because it brings positive vibes while the official marketing screams darkness! ( lol ) However, as Rian Johnson said, at the end of the day, it's a Star Wars film. Cheer up everyone, we are so close to this, let us not doubt it at the 11th hour!

The benefit of the hardcore Star Wars fans who get upset when plots don't follow the outlines they've imagined themselves or the movie isn't exactly what they wanted is the fact that in the grand scheme of things, the numbers are small. There are far more fans who go in just wanting to see a good, fun Star Wars movie. They aren't invested in theories or speculation.

I'm not worried about the movie being good, do I think there is a possibility that I will have some different opinions on certain things, sure.

If the movie was bad, all you would hear from the cast is, "it's amazing", "so much fun" and be done with it. Boyega is a huge fan; his response was probably honest. If Rian is exploring new territory, it might be a lot to take in. Telling me to make sure you see it multiple times is in no way a BAD review.

I've seen this "what if it sucks?" hand-wringing on the eve of the release of both TFA and R1. Those movies both were immensely satisfying. The biggest endorsement of the movie has to be the entrusting of Rian Johnson to a new trilogy that will cost around $700-800 million to produce. I doubt Disney would be handing over such a monumental project if his Episode 8 was a bomb of a movie.

Personally I don't think you should worry, but don't take my word for it I've been wrong before. There's obviously a lot of mixed opinions on the movie, what to expect, if it's going to be worth the wait, etc. I think it's great that voices their opinions/facts and that we ask these questions. But with every leak, spoiler, and discussion you read/watch I recommend taking with a grain of salt (even though I'm doing quite the opposite haha). I've read over A LOT of theories and speculations on TLJ some I agree with, some I don't, (I love the theory about Snoke being that fruit from AOTC when Anakin and Padme are on Naboo). Anyway although these topics are well thought out and analyzed it really all comes down to your personal thoughts on whether or not to be worried.

Star Wars, in general, means a lot of different things to many different people. We all love it (or maybe not?), but that's a given. In my own opinion I'm really excited for TLJ. Part of me is also really worried I won't like it, and that i'll be disappointed, which is one of the worst feelings to have. All I can really recommend is that even if you don't end up liking the movie even a little bit is maybe try to be optimistic (or not it's your decision). There might end up being a little part of it that you'll like. For example I'm not a huge fan of the prequels, but even I like some parts of it (like the amount of meme's that came from it or the space battle at the beginning of Ep. 3).

Either way the movie will be the way it is and none of us can change that. But if Rian Johnson is given an entire trilogy to work on after TLJ, it must have been really well put together. Based on what people thought of TFA, I wouldn't let that discourage you from giving TLJ a chance. It may end up being the best out of the triology. But at this point no one really knows. Seven days!!!

I have zero concerns. Rian is one of us, and even if he takes the story in a different direction than I expected - especially if he does - I'll be happy to have a new story to add to the mythos.

    Rian is genius people.

    Watch his film "Looper".

Only way dirrector with such brain (and who is Star Wars fan from childhood) could fail would be if Disney or LSL have put some serrious restrains on his creative freedom, which I believe was not the case.

Wast majority of reports talk about great film. There was always people with unique opinions.

Some claim that Alexander the Great was bad general, or that Earth is flat...surely if we digg enough , someone who perceived film as bad will be found.

Honestly, I would like to admit that it would be really nice if the team at Disney ( Lucasfilm ) and George have a healthier relationship where they get to share ideas between each other, and of course, Lucasfilm can decide whether to agree or exclude his ideas, but maintain that strong relations between both parties. Yes, I know George Lucas has sold off LFL but he is the creator and he knows better, but who wouldn't take the chance to enhance the storytelling with the creator by your side. Nonetheless, the new SW films has been amazing, and I have a great feeling of what has yet to come. :) I believe in Disney, and I believe in George Lucas as well. Admittedly, I was among the ones who loved the idea of GL directing Episode IX to wrap it all up. I hope GL and Disney are in good terms, and who knows, maybe they will offer him to play a bigger role of making Episode IX. ;)

I get more worried when every actor who is promoting a movie says it is going to be amazing, because 99% of the time it isn't true. I will continue to say that something doesn't have to be amazing to be good, enjoyable or even great as we all get caught up in this type of hyperbole with blockbuster movies these days. TFA is not an amazing movie, nor will it ever be considered a classic, but in saying all of that, I love the movie and have watched it over 20 times on BluRay.

    Yeah, I saw that.

It’s what gives me pause. There’s enough good to like and I’m sure the movies will be fine but -

It makes me wonder what they’ve done.

If we do get Random, ReyLo, Luke is a failure, dead Han, and now tragic Leia who needs to be written out...then it’s a big waste. It craps on the OT characters, ruins the end of ROTJ, breaks a bunch of established mythology in the films, and leaves the overall saga as depressing rather than triumphant and redemptive as it was before this new trilogy started.

I’ll still watch it, it’s still SW, but....it’ll be like that whack Indiana jones with Shia le Poof and the aliens...I don’t really count that one. For me, it ended with Indy, Henry jones, Marcus Brody, and Salah riding off into the sunset (literally) after having found a religious artifact and fought Nazis. Because that’s what Indy does.
