He rubbed me the wrong way when he called himself "a part of the holy trinity of leakers". Like you just can't have that kind of ego. None of the other two (whoever they are) didn't say anything.

This is what I would also bet on. It doesnt make sense to me to ignore this avenue in favour of something new. We havent heard a whisper about Palps cloning himself or whether you can actually clone an FS. It would require too much exposition (Where as cheating death ala DP is already part of the narrative) and in my opinion far its less interesting.

I also think that people assume that Clones get everything from who was cloned. No where in Star Wars have clones retained memories of everything the original went through. Really the opposite. They are physical duplicates, but not mental. In PT we see all the Clones get trained up to be soldiers. Yet they also get specialized training. So a Clone of Palpatine is not a duplicate of Palpatine. Could go totally off the rails and turn out to be a good guy. So I think the clone idea is least likely.

I disagree that Jason being wrong about this means that he was wrong about everything he's reported on.

What was the jab at JJ?
Saying that people felt TFA was too similar to ANH and that many feared he wouldn't bring anything new to the table for TROS?
That's not a jab at JJ. Why are you intent on making it seem as such?

Abrams is not a flawless film maker. No one is. Highlighting concerns people have about him on this project, is not "jabbing" at him.
He's been critiqued by fans and critics for playing it too safe in the past. Not a jab, an observation. When he was announced, a lot of people had concerns because of those critiques and the fact that he almost never finishes the projects he starts, largely because of his love of the mystery box. Again, not a jab, an observation.

A jab would be "in the hands of a better film maker" or something like that.

    Here's an example:
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is my favorite Tarantino since Kill Bill because he showed levels of restraint we haven't seen from him since Jackie Brown. This isn't a jab at Tarantino. It's an observation that many of his recent works have been so heavily doused in the "Tarantino-ness" of them the sort of lose focus on the story IMO.

He literally trades in speculation and theory.
His record for such is pretty good and he obviously does the legwork (regardless of right or wrong).
He doesn't just pilfer Reddit subforums for theories to make YT videos on.

I have no doubt he got this from a previously accurate source. This just wasn't it and I suspect that it's part of a large intentional misdirect.

    It definitely hurts his credibility.

I don't think we need to speak in absolutes here, either. Pretty sure no one here is saying everything is being questioned now.

But this was a pretty big goof up, and that's bound to have some blowback.

No one called him flawed, but saying this confirms everyone's fear of JJ to me seemed to be a jab at him. Wait to see if the prediction is even true. Not to mention everyone includes me, and I didn't have that fear. I for one think JJ has been an incredibly creative guy and I am not talking just about Star Wars. Back when he was announced for EP7 the biggest criticism that I recall was lens flare. It was the joke everywhere. As for the creative I always have felt he gets the bad rap on the ending because he created many very interesting television shows, shows right before the explosion of streaming services. Shows where networks cared about the beginning and the main story line, but not the end. Feel it is rather recent change to TV that having the end planned from the outset. So he was hired to create shows and then other people took over from that point. Really feel the blaming on the Mystery box which really to me has never been anything knew. Just his way of describing that stories dont give away everything immediately.

So it turns out this wasn't Trevorrows script but was Jack Thornes, didn't think Colin would write a script that bad

I guess it makes sense that it could be Throne's since he was only on the film for a month or two. Still, his credits are pretty good including the His Dark Materials series on HBO so it would be odd that he would be off the mark.

For me it is the way JW reacts if people question him. He get a lot right ( Mandalorian and TFA )but also got a lot of TLJ wrong , if you listen to his Podcasts he goes ape s**t over it and its so childish and very cringe to listen to.

With all these leaks for TROS i just feel he is piggy backing of Jedi Praxis while adding his own thoughts to make it seem like and extra leak and if it all goes belly up i bet he blames Jedi Praxis.

This one https://makingstarwars.net/2019/12/...-of-snoke-in-star-wars-the-rise-of-skywalker/ for example. He states his sources said there was a sequence filmed but not sure if it will make the cut. Then at the end he says he isnt even sure if it was filmed?

Not to spread negativity around, and it's entirely possible that I simply do not understand the context that Ward communicates with his fans in... but to me, as an outsider to him, this is an awful look.

If it really is what it seems like, I feel like fans should hold him more accountable. It's kind of embarrassing.

Of course, if my context is off and this is some sort of Groucho Marx impression that he does regularly, please let me know.

I don't know, it's just weird that he basically gave Trevorrow a notice that the story was updated, and then immediately started getting defensive with fans.

Maybe I'm just used to the staff at SWNN, but I kinda expect better professionalism.

Like it's really not hard to say that you blasted up. He didn't actually apologize to Colin either. He just added it to the article. Unless he is trying to protect his sources, I'd say reveal them. They clearly screwed you over.

Yeah, after thinking it over the past day I get why he wouldn't want to reveal his sources.

But I dunno, it's just so weird to me. I don't get why it bothers me, anyway, it's not like I follow the guy. Back to the void with him, as far as I'm concerned. I have enough to worry about as is.

That's generally how sourcing news like this works. Sometimes it will be right. Sometimes it will be wrong.
He almost exclusively deals in speculation. Yes he is a bit of a prick. But that doesn't mean if you want Star Wars centered leaks etc, there's anyone better because there really isn't.

He's probably had good intel from this guy before so he ran with it. It happens.
