Kasdan knows who Darth Plaguies is--Abrams said "he's messing with you" after Kasdan's "Darth Vegas" comment (which I thought was hilarious).

Could be B&N is just lying to get their stock of Legends material moved...

...and, from a certain point of view, it IS canon.

I really hope in the future they give the Legends some sort of treatment. Hand them over to Marvel and make some sort of comic adaptation with the threads of Heir to the Empire, Jedi Academy, and Dark Empire all intertwined in a bizarro universe. They do it with other properties all the time. Star Wars fans would go crazy for it!

One of the later Legends novels, Riptide, dealt with clones of famous Force sensitives. The neat thing though was that they were all unique individuals; because they didn't experience the same lives as their progenitors, they weren't exact clones in anything but appearance. Even Joruus C'Boath of the Thrawn Trilogy wasn't the same guy as the original Jorus, though because he had more "training" in his progenitor's life he was a lot closer than the clones from Riptide. I like this way of handling cloning, it closes that Pandora's Box by showing that no matter where a person comes from, their identities are formed by the experiences they have.

I've really been pulling for a Pixar adaptation of Legends now that Star Wars is under the same roof as the former ILM offshoot. I'd love to see a Netflix series where they do half hour episodes and adapt one major series per season; season one: The Thrawn Trilogy; season 2: Dark Empire; season 3: Jedi Academy, season 4: The Callista Trology; etc.

I'll be honest. I'm as OG a Star Wars fan as they come. I read the Thrawn Trilogy in high school, then reread them in college.

    They were fine.

My "in the gut" reaction to them was that while they were pretty good stories with some neat characters, they were never really "New" Star Wars. Not really. They were sanctioned fan fiction. It was the best we as fans were going to get, in lieu of new films. Same goes for the entirety of the EU.

And yes, while I think Heir to the Empire is by and large better than the prequels aside from the world building aspect, which is really the part of the PT I find intriguing, it still never felt to me like really real REAL Star Wars. Again, same goes for all of the EU.

And maybe TFA will be the same, without Lucas being involved. Maybe. But I get the feeling that between Kasdan and the original cast, it'll be on the money and make us forget all about the EU.

Interesting to come back to this thread since the film has been released. I've been re-reading Heir To The Empire, as it's been a long time since I did, and I do feel there are some aspects of the book that they may have used as jumping off points. I'm fairly sure that some of the writers and concept artists would have been aware of a fair bit of EU stuff seeing as; Empire regroup in unknown regions, Hux is like a much younger Thrawn, Luke unsure of his ability to train new Jedi, Han the reluctant General, mysterious dark force user appears AND Jaycen & Jaina Solo (once illustrated) look suspiciously like Rey and Kylo.
