While I certainly understand the trilogies revolved around the lives of Anakin and Luke, I would hope the saga of Star Wars has grown well past the life, death and legacy of the Skywalkers. No matter which way this story goes, it does not have to include a Skywalker to be an effective and entertaining storyline.

I like this idea a lot. Ever since we started getting info on Kylo, I thought it would be cool if he was kind of a darker version of Luke. A young man learning the ways of the force through a mysterious mentor (Serkis) and combating a corrupted Alliance.

 

So what if Ren and Rey are Solos but Ren is such an outcast that nobody wants to redeem him! He resents his parents and sister and the entire lineage so much that "there is no conflict". He's gradually becoming so evil (he kills his own father) that the entire Galaxy wants him dead. He allies himself with the Empire and is trying frantically to awaken an evil that can help him destroy his family.
