SPECULATION Could this be Rey's Mother?

"Dosmit Ræh served as a captain in the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. She flew a T-65B X-wing starfighter and served with the Tierfon Yellow Aces, a Rebel starfighter squadron. Several years after the war, Ræh's flight helmet was recovered by a young desert scavenger on the Jakku named Rey. When Rey was a girl, Ræh became an important figure in Rey's life, with the young scavenger dreaming up stories about what Ræh was like and where she might have come from. Rey created a fighter pilot doll using a flight suit she recovered from a cargo container, and she would often wear Ræh's flight helmet. Together, Rey and "Ræh" would go on adventures by exploring Rey's home, the downed All Terrain Armored Transport called Hellhound Two, as well as the sands outside of the AT-AT. Rey eventually grew out of playing with the doll, but she kept the memory of Dosmit Ræh alive by keeping the doll and her helmet in her possession throughout her years on Jakku."


The helmet bore the name of its owner in Aurebesh.

 

IMO... Luke meeting Dosmit, yes. Dosmit being Rey's mother, possibly but boy I hope not. This to me would be a glaring piece to omit and gloss right over the 'who's the mother' question immediately imposed by TFA's story and a lot of back fill information needed in Ep 8 or 9 to make it right. Would be faster and more succinct to have Luke pull a "your mother died during child birth" instead.

Just my initial thought.

 

Rey is approximately 10 years too young for this to be possible. BoJakku happened about one year after BoEndor. Raeh's fighter was downed in the BoJakku. Her helmet was scavenged by Rey (that much is canon).

 

Impossible, it was scavenged from the battlefield of Jakku. Rey is not that old.

 

that would be to much coincendence IMHO.

Would be like Anakin building 3P0 or Chewie knew Yoda type stuff

 

It would be awesome if she took the name Rey from the helmet. That would be a nice story twist if her real name would be......Padmé .
I don't hope its Kira......that would not be very kind to Daisy Ridley..

 

i'd never considered Rey's real name might not be Rey.... i was just assuming that we where going to find out her surname.... so thats an intresting theroy

 

Well there is something special with the name "Rey" especially when you listen to "Rey's theme" on the OST soundtrack release. As you might know 'Rey' translates as 'King' in spanish. John Williams concludes the composition of Rey's theme with a so-called 'regal motif'. This is surely no accident.
The 'regal motif' occurs at 2:32 and lasts until 2:39.

 

Play the first 15 seconds of Rey's theme backwards and drop the pitch down and you get something resembling the Imperial March. Not joking!

 

Yeah I've seen that in the other thread! That is so awesome. Just to think how difficult that is to pull off when you're writing music. Inverting the familiar theme to make a beautiful new character theme. This Williams is an absolute genius.

If this is right, then Ray would be named after her...but that seems to cliched as it happens in pretty much every franchise that "honors" passed friends and all .

 

Another clue which leads to Anakin's reborn. One more.

 

If you play the Imperial March backwards for the entire movie, it syncs up perfectly with Star Trek Into Darkness

 

Or that she is being paralleled with Kylo Ren as both being dual sides of Anakin's nature.

 

A skin split his soul in two within Kylo and Rey in case he died. .

 

I think it's a real possibility.
