SPECULATION Could this supposed 'mind blowing' ending be a make or break for fans?

My only "fear" is how Palpatine will fit in this story. Wondering if this "mind blowing" finale is related to him.

 

Tatooine is the obvious ending (just don't know if JJ would it use the twin suns again, we already seen it in Ach Too with Luke).
Yavin IV is my guess if I think in a set that can tie the movies together (at least the OT, ST and RO).
Also we have Coruscant that we can see in SE of ROTJ and in all three movies of the prequels.
Naboo? But Naboo has no relation with the OT.

 

Make or break? Umm no.

 

The ending will be Threepio, Artoo, Rey and Ben on Tatooine holding their new baby twins while looking off into twin sun RISES. Just above the sun rise, you see the force ghost faces of Anakin, Luke, Leia, Han (why not?) Obi-Wan, and Yoda, staring back and smiling at them. The End.

 

I think it will now be elevated to a make-or-break because of how they are inviting fans to speculate and theorize. Great for marketing and buzz, not so great for those who are trying to meet or exceed expectations with the story. Honestly, based on TLJ alone, I would have just left that piece out or instructed Kevin Smith to say nothing of the conversation. Because my guess is that, the less we know about the movie, the better their chances of it exceeding audience projections/expectations.

The moment you put this into the air, Star Wars fans speculate, "what could melt my mind" and the chances that the story actually exceeds that just don't seem very likely; especially if it's a set that is supposed to be mind blowing. How many places could even qualify?

 

World Between Worlds...? Now granted A LOT of WBW would be CGI/blue screen. It sounds like a lot of practical, 'real' effects went into the set. It would allow all the movies to feel connected, without a whole lot of explanation. Remember: WBW was introduced in a show designed for KIDS. If they felt that kids couldn't understand the concept, they wouldn't put it into the show. Also, it featured a lot of the ST cast.

 

I do not see why the world between worlds would be the finale...it would better as the "twist" during the climax when all hope is lost or something like that...if they do use that, maybe that is how Palpatine actually comes back briefly while they search the ruins of the DSII but as the finale, it is too much at once

 

Yes, it can be make or break. If they introduce something stupid at the end, that would be very upsetting.

For some fans, sure.

I've got a feeling that, on both sides, a large section of the fanbase already has their minds made up.

Personally, I'm cautiously looking forward to The Rise of Skywalker. I'm not saying that nothing could ruin the movie for me, but as long as this "mind blowing" revelation isn't absolutely terrible or disappointing, I don't think it'll tip me too far one way or the other at this point.

 

What would be mind blowing is that Palpatine was the chosen one all along

We all seem to think the chosen one has to be a jedi or on the light side of the force or for a better word a 'good' guy

Have never heard or seen this idea before

Hope this is how it ends

I think the only way the ending could ruin it for me is if they somehow retcon the entire saga. For example, the "mind-blowing" set could be little Anakin's bedroom, in which Jake Lloyd reprises his role as 9-year old Annie, who wakes up and runs over to Shmi, saying, "Mom! I just had the craziest dream, and you know what? I don't think it's such a good idea for me to go with Qui-Gon, after all. I'm going to stay right here with you!" THAT would be a lame ending (not to mention that it would look downright weird to see Jake reprising his role.)

But I seriously doubt that sort of thing is likely to happen. More likely, the "mind-blowing" set it just a piece of nostalgia that neatly wraps up the saga, like the Jedi temple or the Yavin throne room. I don't see it really being a big deal. Kevin Smith is a master of hyperbole.

 

This "mind blowing ending" may be just hype or lies.

 

I guess the key thing to remember is what is mind blowing for one isn't necessarily the same for another, including Kevin's idea.

 

I think the wording on par for Smith and his usual verbage but as you say, it can have different meanings for different people. I had thought of maybe a memorial on Tatooine for Luke, Anakin, (Kylo if he doesn't survive) Han (which we haven't gotten), all beside Shimi during a twin sunset.

 

Well, we'll already have paid the money by that stage, so mission accomplished either way. I have to say, this seemed like very manufactured news to me.
