Did you ever wish there is another Darth Maul around???

Oh yeah. He was definitely a great character. I liked him a lot. The acting and sword play were fantastic.

 

Maybe - if they actually decide to give him a character this time.

 

Watch the Clone Wars if you want some character.

 

I'm trying to imagine Maul leading the Separatist Army . . . and I just don't see it happening. I think he was more of an enforcer than someone who could serve as Palpatine's representative.

 

I thought this fan film was awesome.

 

For me, the real problem with this matter regarding Darth Maul is that I get the feeling that this wish that he had remained in the second and third PT movies is merely based upon how "cool" he was. No one really seemed to realize that his continuing presence would have not served those second and third movies.

 

As someone pointed out, Maul survived and is around in Star Wars Rebels.

 

The internet has been saying as much for the past 17 years and that argument is now even more absurd, than it was back then. I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how a Dark Lord of the Sith couldn't continue to serve his Master, after getting chopped in half. Christopher Lee was a wonderful actor with a superb voice and great screen presence, but Lord Tyranus was an underwhelming Sith. Grievous had less flesh than Maul did and couldn't touch the force, yet no one rails against his ability to lead the CIS (let alone, his survival) after Dooku's execution. The pro-Dooku crowd said Maul couldn't lead, but they had nothing to base that opinion upon other than his appearance and lack of dialog in TPM.

How did Sidious treat the leadership of the Trade Federation? He dominated them.
Maul would have been no different because fear was his ally... and Palpatine was his teacher.

And if the films aren't enough, TCW showed us that Maul was more than capable of leading. He submitted his brother, outsmarted Pre Vizla, strong armed Black Sun a second time and used honor against the clan leader of Death Watch to become Mandalore. Prior to his showdown with Darth Sidious, Maul was well on his way to personifying what Plagueis once said: "You must begin by gaining power over yourself; then another; then a group, an order, a world, a species, a group of species… finally, the galaxy itself." Looking at the whole picture, Maul could have done whatever Sidious wanted, whenever he wanted it.

The fight choreography alone was magnificent for it to have been done by fans/amateurs. It's the kind of light saber battle I'd always wanted to see... and maybe hope to see in the future.

It was good. It was obvious the female Jedi gave into the dark side/anger at the end and Maul was considering keeping her alive until he realized Palpatine was watching him. I always like fan made fight scenes versus "official" ones. The fans tend to be a bit more liberal with choreography.

 

Imo Benicio Del Toro should've played Maul as they originally planned. He should've been the main side villain for the enitre trilogy. And he should've been a normal character with motivations and developement, not just an action figure commercial.

I think Maul was a good character in Clone Wars, espeially with his brother. A character like that could've been a good villain for the entire trilogy (epecially played by BDT). Imo choosing 3 completely undeveloped characters as side villains for the 3 movies was a great mistake.

 

That was my interpretation too (regarding the fan film I interpreted the dynamics the same way, she turned dark, Maul considers the possibility of having an apprentice, but ultimately does what he has to, to stay in good standing with Palpatine.
