Did you ever wish there is another Darth Maul around???

Well Grievous was pretty fleshed out from what I remember in comparison ...

 

Well, he was kind of fleshed out... But he just came out of nowhere and only had one reason to be in the movie: To separate Obi-wan from Anakin. Imo they should've gone with Dooku in ep 3 as a more developed villain instead of a new, relatively undeveloped one.

What I really liked about TFA was that imo it had a good villain (as a character). Sure, these Maul-like silent, executor type of charactes can also be good, but imo a character like that gives no real satisfaction or catharsis to the audience, especially if they die in the movie they came up. Imo a movie shouldn't have a villain just for the sake of having a villain...

 

I would have preferred a mail type of clone system just like on TFU .

 

Now thats a good idea! Just imagine a cloned Maul meeting Obi-wan in ep II... If it's done well this could've been a great arc of the PT.

I feel like a new Maul would be cool, but stop there. I don't honestly see how they could add one into the Sequel Trilogy, although a standalone film could potentially be awesome. Sadly I don't think it will happen.

 

God, that would be a mistake. Darth Maul was okay as a character, but he never struck me as someone with any real depth. I've said this before. I suspect that many fans may have made a big deal over him because he seemed "COOL". You know, like Boba Fett. Frankly, that struck me as a shallow reason to keep the character around and I'm still disappointed with Lucas that he allowed Maul to be "resurrected", so to speak, for "THE CLONE WARS". I thought it was a dumb move.

 

I thought it was silly as well at first, but Maul's resurrection led to some of the very best episodes and story arcs of TCW. I also enjoyed his inclusion in the season finale of Rebels season two. As for the matter of depth, it's true that there wasn't much to him in TPM, however by the time they were done with him in TCW he was a fully realized and fleshed out character, an interesting one at that.

You're absolutely right. Dave Filoni said as much during The Clone Wars BTS videos; Maul was being trained as Sidious' apprentice, not his assassin as Legends would have you believe.

 

Maul's ability to cheat death might have been biggest misread that Lucas made w/ the PT.

In my humble opinion.

 

It was still dumb to me, because Maul's character wasn't really needed. And to resurrect him in that manner? Dumb.

What do you mean by that? What does that have to do with bringing Darth Maul back from the dead?

 

Maul is Lone Evil!

There is only one Darth Maul, and it's enough. This guy looks like a demon for a reason. We don't need a 'Maul copycat.' He's sinister and evil enough, and he is Sidious's first Sith apprentice.

Don't underestimate Maul or you will underestimate the Sith!
