Filming begins soon (exact date locked?) so no doubt we'll start seeing images of things soon.

One of my regrets with TFA was that I spent too much time looking at images of creature designs & other concept art pieces... so nothing felt that surprising to me. While it was cool seeing those images vs. the concept art... I regret having looked at things like the downed AT-AT rey home.

I went to see the film with guys who were not spoiled at all... every 5 seconds I heard my friend go... "hmmm", "ahhhh" he was being surprised with every shot.

So next time around I will try to be less of a Junky.

A different topic but I'm curious what you guys think:

I heard the only on location shoots will be in Mexico & the shoot they did at Skellig island... that concerns me... because I *LOVED* the outdoor shots... especially the exotic forest scenes in TFA.

However... I was also hoping for more exotic locations like bespin... I could live with compromising location shooting in the hopes that they will introduce new worlds like that which couldn't be filmed on location... but if they don't & it's more like things we saw in TFA then that would be disappointing... because I really appreciated that attention to detail in this film.

I was also going to point out... this time around things will be less secretive I think.

I'm almost thinking they should be more secretive this time around since now we have a frame of reference for everything (we have a general understanding of who the new main characters are & what they might plan to do in the next film/ make educated assumptions.)

I was a total junky this last time around... I think we were all SW feature film starved and gobbled up everything we could (not that I'm speaking for all of you... but many of you... haha). Since I got a big meal now I might have some will power. & We'll have Rogue One to tide us over!

I tried to remain unspoiled with TFA, but people really don't know how to use spoiler tags around here. :p

I will try to remain as spoiler free as possible - I will look at what they officially release.

Considering how much I enjoyed the film even spoiled, I can't imagine how much more I will love it surprised. Force, give me strength. :D

Hopefully I didn't spoil anything... I didn't use spoiler tags a day after TFA premiered cuz I figured everyone else already saw it.

I'm going to try to avoid concept art... I guess we'll see (haha)

No, it was before, people were spilling every detail of MSW outline without using spoiler tags. If I wanted that, I would go to MSW in the first place. But, it doesn't matter now - I loved the movie nonetheless. :)

Over the years, I've found that seeking out "spoilers" for Star Wars movies enhances my movie-going experience. I enjoy the slow leak of information, and allows me to have a more enriched opening night viewing. So yeah, I'll be looking at spoilers. ;)

I won't be looking at spoilers, but I will be coming up with crazy theories until the trailers and TV spots come out ;)

With every new movie I go in thinking I'll stay away...then reality smacks me in the face and I just can't resist.

I'll only read what is officially released by StarWars.com or the official trades. No MSW for me.

Same as before for me: pics, concept and wild speculation, no leaked outlines, scene descriptions or soundtrack names! :)

The Sound track names & outlines were the only things I could avoid... though I got the just of outlines from seeing what other people wrote. The only thing I couldn't avoid was reading about Star Killer base & hearing about Leia's role... that didn't really spoil anything for me in the long run though.

Yes, I also got some things like that from replies and comments but, even with the good track record, I always treat those comments as another possible speculation, so even if they are right it's like "that guy guessed it" instead of "I was spoiled!" :)

The biggest TFA spoilers for me came directly from Disney licensed merchandise/content ( talking action figures, trading cards, children's books, video games, companion books, etc.) and from TV spots. In the end, it felt like almost the whole film had been spoiled including what was supposed to be the "biggest surprises/twists" like Rey being the force sensitive and picking up the lightsaber in the forest to fight Kylo, or Kylo being related to Han and Vader. Even Finn's name origin (FN 2187) and the circumstances of his defection ("submit your blaster for inspection") were spoiled by the talking toys. The only thing that really surprised me was Rey not being Leia's daughter and Kylo's sister, which I genuinely expected to be the case.

I don't mind spoilers though and am looking forward to knowing more about Episode VIII's plot.

I actually really enjoyed the process of watching TFA materialize along with all the speculation and rumors. I'll be doing it again, a little wiser this time. (Like when maz hands Leia Luke's saber in the second teaser but not in the film, so the teaser isn't canon, mind blown!)

The Rey/Finn/Kylo fight scene was a set. So it can be done well

Eh, I knew the entire plot of TFA about 2-3 months before it's release and it didn't really ruin it for me, I won't avoid spoilers this time around either.

Keep in mind The Empire Strikes Back. Some of the Hoth scenes were a location shoot, but everything else was filmed on studio lots outside London, and that movie is still the high water mark of the series.

Very true... that thought occurred to me as well. Mexico is also a big place... so they might be filming in a very exotic location for a while.

Having the crew film in the bitter cold added a lot though!

I have no problems with spoilers, the more that leak the better. However I hope that now knowing how good the TFA spoilers were and the accuracy of controversial one like "luke screen time" will temper some of the more fierce arguments that came up last year.
