EP 8 filming soon... anyone else spoiler averse now?

OK so this is kind of about Episode 8 but also about TFA...

I've seen TFA once, I'll definitely be going to to see it again...I loved the film and I've enjoyed following the process on here and other sites of the film being made, right from the first leaked concept art and grainy on-set pictures, through to the final trailers. But I can't help wondering how different my experience would've been if I'd not done any of that, and just maybe seen the trailers and nothing else. I feel that when watching the film, I tended to take for granted many of the great ideas about characters and design because I'd been seeing them for several months previously.

With that in mind I'm thinking that I will try to avoid all spoilers and rumours for Episode 8 - I doubt I'll be able to do it though! Is anyone else thinking of doing this, or is there anyone here who managed to avoid all the spoilers for TFA, and if so were you overwhelmed with all the different ideas and images in the film, because they were all new to you?

I thought that originally, but it's kind of about TFA and how we experienced it having heard all the rumours and spoilers, and whether it might've been better to have ignored it all - or whether it actually enhanced our experience of it?

 

I looked at pretty much every concept art, leaked picture of Kylo Ren, and some LITTLE story leaks... and it did not ruin the experience for me at all. So will do the same thing for Episode VIII

Too hard to avoid the rumors, concepts and all kind of spoilers. Just hoping Disney and LFL keep all.under a secret.

 

I think avoiding stuff for 8 may be easier than it was for 7, cuz alot of the attention will be focused on Rogue One. I hoping theres little to know marketing for it until after the release of Rogue one. As long as you dont seek it out it shouldnt be too much of a problem.

 

May the Force be with you. I was all in on the spoilers for TFA and it had no effect on my enjoyment of the film. I'll be all in on VIII spoilers as well. If you can hold out, I think that's great.

 

After the 2nd teaser came out I went on a sabbatical.... didnt check this site, no trailer, no tv spots...turn the tv/radio off when Id hear anything remotely star wars.
Really hard avoiding the trailer but it was well worth it

But yes, after spoiling most of TFA for myself, I would really like to go in fresh for VIII. However, I highly doubt I'll be able to resist once the rumour mill starts up...

 

I can't ever stay away from spoilers, but it also doesn't ruin my experience. I forgot most of everything while seeing TFA. I was too excited.

I'm doing that for episode 8, i needed to Know what we would gonna get for episode 7 because i was afraid would be the prequels all over again, now that fear is gone, i can enjoy Episode 8 almost unspoiled, one trailer or 2 and that's it.

 

I agree with Bob Fortuna. I avoided anything after the second trailer (and it was ridiculously tempting and felt like such a relief to finally watch them all after the movie). Yet, I wondered what my movie experience would have been without any images of merchandise, trailers, forum talk and so on.

I'll certainly try it for Episode 8 but won't fool myself - avoiding everything entirely is simply impossible.*


* unless somebody can tell me where to find the next carbon freeze chamber

 

I will try my best to avoid spoilers too.I will have 2 years to avoid them and it will NOT be easy....

 

I avoided spoilers for EpVII, and it was such a thrill ride to watch, I'm sure in part because I didn't have an preconceived notions of what was going to happen. I felt like I was 7 again and seeing Star Wars for the first time. It was just fun.

I'm not sure how I'm going to manage to do this for a year and a half though Especially now that I found this forum.

 

The only thing I want to know in advance is how much screen time Luke has. I will be avoiding any other spoilers ..
