I may or may not get hate for this but I’ve been thinking about 2 potential cool names like

Star Wars: A New Dark Side

or!

Star Wars: The Force Ends

Either way it’s gotta be something that catches your attention, simple and something that makes sense because of the fact that this will be THE FINAL film in the trilogy ( I know they’re making a new set of movies after this one though)

 

Starwars : A Final Destiny

This is the end of the skywalker family. (If up to me, in a subverted Villian exile to think what he has done to find forgiveness in himself.)

Star Wars Episode IX: A New Order is my favorite guess I came up with & I'm glad you like it! 2nd favorite is "A Spark of Hope" because it comes from the title crawl of Last Jedi.

Specifically, because as you pointed out, "Order" applies to both Rey & her supposed new Jedi Order, as well as the other main character Ben Solo & his First Order. It fits very well for the dual focus of this trilogy.

'The Spark of Hope' would be my best bet as of right now.

At the end of 'The Last Jedi', there's constant mention of the Resistance being the "Spark" that’ll light the fire to bring down the First Order. That, coupled with this section of Ep. 8's opening title crawl:

"Only General Leia Organa’s band of RESISTANCE fighters stand against the rising tyranny, certain that Jedi Master Luke Skywalker will return and restore a spark of hope to the fight.”

I mean, If the TLJ could get away with having another SW film contain the word "Jedi" in it's title; why not this?

I know it’s a soundtrack title for RotS but I think “Battle of the Heroes” has both a lightness and ambiguity that would suit IX well.

Alternatively, something that includes “Skywalker” might be fitting. Or perhaps a reference to the bloodline in some way - as I believe that this story will be the last of their saga...

Some of these joke titles are hilarious. You guys are amazing.

As for a title, it is hard to say. Each of the OT and PT titles had some inherent meaning. The Phantom Menace Darth Maul/ Sidious, Attack of the Clones, cheesy as heck, was the clones and Revenge of the Sith as well, the Sith.

ANH, ESB, and ROTJ all fit their responses. And even The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi all do a good job.

As for a title, I'd like to see one where "The" isn't present in the beginning. We already have The Phantom Menace, The Force Awakens, and even The Last Jedi. It's a nitpick, but really Empire and Return of the Jedi don't have that.

Maybe, Echoes of the Force? Yes, it is cheating as we already have a Force name in "The Force Awakens", but it needs to be a title to which evokes a mood while also leaving things uncertain.

Well...

We're going to need multiple titles, you know, for IX-1 and IX-2 (gotta pull a Harry Potter).

 

In my opinion, what the title of Episode IX will be is largely depending on whether this will bring a closure to the Skywalker saga or not. If it does, I think the title will of course be something more unique and stand out to say that this is the last movie in the saga. If it isn't, then the options are really opened for us to speculate.

2019 can't come any sooner, but the only thing I know is that this will be the last saga movie which we will get for quite some time ( 8 years minimum ).

 

I would like to point out that Episode VIII's title, The Last Jedi was a phrase in the title crawl of Episode VII. (& correct me if I'm wrong was said in the movie)

A Spark of Hope would follow this line of thinking as it is in the title crawl of Episode VIII, & The Last Hope could as well since it was said in the movie.

(I still like A/The New Order though)
