The more I read it aloud, the more I like it. Connects well with previous episode names.

 

All right, I uttered the line (The Force Awakens) to my eight-year old a couple of hundred times and it rolls nicely off the tongue; it has a little ... force .. to it. Why do I get so excited/upset about a gorram title anyway?! There's also a sexual innuendo here. I foresee a future in which many proud males boast, "The Force awakens baby!" Maybe.
Still prefer my own suggestion The Dark Legacy. But yeah, good point, DjChubakka - the Force might have been dormant for thirty years. True that.

 

A good space-pulp fantasy title ... and no 'xxx of the xxx' which have become run-of-the-mill and staid. I'd have preferred a big exclamation mark on the end of Awakens, but, whaddevaah, that's the Flash Gordon fan in me. Glad they dropped the 'Episode' prefix which weighted the titles down and made them seem pompous whenever media reporters recited them in their entirety.

Nice retro typeface too Can't remember what the heck it's called, been 20 years since I was a graphic designer.

 

I fear the "Episode" bit will be attached to it again (notice at the official site it's now Star Wars EPISODE V The Empire Strikes Back for example) but I do hope you're right and they go old school.

 

"Episode VII" is not in the title. Hopefully that logo isn't final either. If they really want to be old school, they will make a new flashy title logo with "Star Wars" on the top and bottom.

Knew it all along the movie is about The Force! And the legacy of Vader/Anakin has left from it.

Luke literally put it to sleep for 30 years. It finds its way back.

Luke's "transformation" is symptomatic of his error thinking that he is responsible, as the last remaining Jedi, to lock away The Force from the galaxy. Also, his perseption that The Force is responsible of the Star Wars (the Clone Wars and the Civil war).

 

Something like this would obviously be amazing!!!!!

I love how they updated it fast

 

The other movies titles are so revealing as to what happens in the film, this is more generic and gives no clue as to the story or plots.

 

They did that on purpose. Oh, the Mystery Box.

 

It's in the formal title but not the promo image which is what I hoped for, to keep it simple. Could have looked a lot flashier, however, as has already been discussed. Every generation needs a good movie logo of its own

 

I think it is good to have the Episode VII in there, helps differentiate itself from the spin offs. The title being revealed today brings more credibility to the teaser trailer coming out soon I think!!

 

How about a little change to the title, The Awakening of the Force.

 

Not snappy and doesn't convey the scenario any more effectively.
