I like the title a lot! It has the potential to have meaning both in the film, and in our real world in the sense that Star Wars is BACK!

But what could it mean in the film?
Has Luke coveted the power of the force, refusing to teach it to others because of the destruction it has wrought through the galaxy for Eons?
Has he been using every last shred of his strength for the last 30 years to contain it, in exile and finally snaps?!

Is the force imposing its will of "Balance" upon the galaxy by maintaining a struggle or by bringing peace?

What of Yoda and Ben and Anakin's force ghosts? Would Yoda not be encouraging Luke to "Pass on what he has learned? Is Luke tortured by this internal conflict of right and wrong???

    SOME ONE TELL ME!

Don't blame me, Skeletor actually said it.

Though I believe it's an antiquated term meaning "fool" or something to that effect.

Very happy with the new news! One step closer to the trailer and before we know it, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be on the big screen for us to enjoy or ultimately despise. Regardless if you like the title, todays a day of celebration. At least it is in my eyes.

Now we just need character names, pictures, and descriptions. Names at the very least.

I know but this is the thing I like about prequels .. it started the Episodic format (or improved or whatever) I'm okay if people call it The Force, or TFA but please make it Episode VII - The Force Awakens

    I like it.

It fits the motif of the other first story subtitles: The Phantom Menace, A New Hope, The Force Awakens.

The initials TFA seems reasonable, and is not culturally established as meaning anything else. That is actually an important consideration in today's LOL, IIRC, TIFWIW, world.

Episode II should've been called The Clone Wars instead of AOTC

    Here something about the #'s.

Have also confirmed that "Episode VII" WILL be in the opening crawl to show continuity, although it is not part of the movie's title.

I think it should have been Rise of the Clones.

I think Dawn Of The Clone Wars would have worked better - the actual war doesn't start until the last thirty minutes of the movie, and even then, it's only one battle.

It raises more questions than it answers. I always thought ROTJ meant the Jedi order was returning through Luke. I felt that when I heard the title when I was in 5th grade and again after I saw the movie. I really felt that after ROTS. Luke was told that "for over a thousand generations the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic" and I believe this was a call for Luke to make that happen again. This bad thing happened (Palps and Vader) and it lasted for a second in the grand scheme of things. Is the force is in a coma? why? Luke is a Jedi and uses the force or has his ability to use it stopped? or does this mean something we just can't see yet?

Stop trying to make the Ancient Fear fit with this title. I know lots of you want Plaguies to be the bad guy but I can't see how The Force Awakens has anything to do with the Ancient Fear. Harry Knowels was just flat out wrong, as he has been many times. I'm sure JJ has known the title for a long time and just told us and Harry got bad info. The force is not to be feared. Unless Force doesn't mean the Force it has nothing to do with Ancient or Fear. You guys are just trying to make it fit with what you think is going to happen in the movie.

If it means the force has been in a coma my theory on the movie goes out the window. As I believed Daisy and John were Jedi and the title suggest I am wrong.

Edit: If it were A Force Awakens then it could have played into the ancient fear title but it isn't that It really sounds like the Force has been in a coma.

How about "Luke goes bonkers and gets his own army of force clones".
That would be a hoot if a huge space ship lands the bad dudes/cyborgs say; the #%*+ is that???? Then 3000 Luke Skywalkers charge out swinging light sabers.....

NO ONE would expect that!

    1) Speaking of boobs, have you guys seen the Honest Trailer for Game of Thrones? Bewbs! Recommended

    • 2) Why do people think Attack of the Clones is such a disastrous title? It's not great but it is quite in the mold. Of course a title like The Roughness of Sand is more artistic and deep but this is the series where empires strike back and stuff.
    • 3) From my initial dislike The Force Awakens is growing a little on me. Still not comfortable (like sand, then) and still my least favorite so far. It has so many implications, some worrying. Anyhow I must go through the stages I suppose.

Love the title. To me it implies that for the first time in Star Wars history the Force is going to be used to all of its potential. Whether that is a good or bad thing is an unknown that drives the movie.

@Darthlaw If I could Like, Wise and Great post your post I would. Harry Knowles said there Kyart Dragons in Episode 1 and Anakin would fight with a light saber. He used to have some contacts in the business but MOST have dried up and he was/still posting BS as though it was from legit sources.

As far as not having Episode VII in the title, good it goes back to the way it was. I do not understand why EPISODE [ _ ] was prominent to begin with.
