I don't think so. For things like the Star Wars trailer, they make sure EVERYONE knows what movie it's attached to. Drives attendance to that movie. They could just sneak it in, but that's not the best way to drive people into the theater.

I honestly prefer that they go with something that sounds hopeful instead of all dark and Nolan-y. Star Wars is ultimately a tale of idealism.

Right, I thought that sounded like the title of a Batman comic.

I like the title. Took me a second to digest it, but I’m happy with it.

But, trying to decipher meaning out of it with little context form the plot is difficult. It could reference these rumored new powers that Luke has found. Perhaps a new level of force use was somehow awakened. It could reference a villain, awakening the same new destructive powers. It could reference a period of dormancy since Luke went into hiding. Perhaps the end result is a new crop of Jedi and a new Jedi order started with Daisy and John when they seek out Luke. There’s so many possibilities due to the vague title, that its almost useless to speculate. But we’ll do it anyway. That's why we're here. :)

Makes me think though. Imagine trying to guess the meaning a A New Hope with as little context as we have here. Would likely lead to some way off base speculation.

Ep1 referred to the bad, 4 the good so 7 should be darker again IMO.

I have to say, I'm incredibly relieved it's not any of the rumored titles. This just rolls off the tongue so much better than the awkward sounding "The Ancient Fear" or what have you.

After a brief few minutes of ecstasy because we had a title, this hit me, and I became less thrilled:

Why/How is it so incredibly difficult for the ST films to have the naming conventions of the films of their predecessor trilogies? A lot of people I know call the six films by these one word names, but they are also Eps. I-IV. The ST films should have Eps. VII-IX associated with them more than just during the opening crawls of each film, and I'm sure we will also find their "one word" monikers as well. This black or white view of all things Star Wars is disturbing.

This quote always confused me, because I wasn't sure if he refers to Episode III as ROTS or ROTJ. I still think that he was talking about ROTJ, and just didn't want to give away which characters survive that film.

Do you really think that's true these days when they release the trailer on the internet the same day they release it in the theaters?

Not trying to be a jerk, being serious, I personally don't think they take those things into account anymore.

I like it! I think this is about Luke coming out of retirement after 30 years, and the Skywalker family has awoken to fight evil for another trilogy!

It confuses me too. Partly I'd lean on ROTS/Prequels because, I think I read it was in 1980 that A New Hope got the IV subtitle.
