Gary Oldman would make a great imperial commander, and my other pick would have been Max Von Sydow.. pretty stoked he is already in
    (even though he gets wacked)

Definitely in my top ten, but I think Cumberbatch's involvement in Star Trek would make it a little weird for audiences..

Hugo Weaving is always great, he would have made the perfect Thrawn.

Agreed with Weaving...I'm not anti-Cumberbatch, he's a fine actor, but I feel he's incredibly overexposed these days. I feel the same way about Chris Pratt. I prefer they spread the wealth among actors.

I'm more a character actor and little-known actor fan in general. Big stars take me out of the experience. I think Peter Capaldi would be great, however. Cillian Murphy. James Cromwell is always good in anything they put him in. Harry Dean Stanton. Jeffrey Wright. Linda Hunt. Kiernan Shipka. Cush Jumbo. Uzo Aduba. Alfre Woodard.

Michael Fassbender would make a fantastic General I think. He has germanic roots and has that look so to see him in Naziesque uniform would be awesome. He is one of my favourite actors at the moment.

I agree with Hugo Weaving as he was the perfect villain in the Matrix franchise, however it might be a little weird initially as he was in the LOTR franchise as well, but I'd get over it.

My next pick is Mads Mikkelsen (whom will be in R1) as I saw him in Valhalla Rising and watch him in Hannibal.....great actor.

I think John Noble would be an interesting choice. For those who don't know, he is an Australian actor from a theater back ground and most notably played Walter Bishop on the TV Series Fringe. (Another Abrams-associated production.) In the show, he played two versions of himself in two universes: an insane mad scientist, and a cold, calculating, sinister secretary of defense.

He could work as anything from a dark lord to an Imperial General.

I also think Mark Strong would be good, perhaps as a Jedi or rebel commander.. Malcolm McDowell would also be great

Some more: James Remar, Tilda Swinton would fit well into the Star Wars universe
