SPECULATION Ewan McGregor in VIII? Force Ghost

Bring on Ewan!

 

if it's done well, i'd love to see Ewan McGregor be Obi-Wan in a movie i'll actually watch ~ hahaha

 

I really hope that's true. Ewan McGregor was one the best things in the PT. He deserves to play Obi-Wan again.

 

Yes, I hope they try to age him with make up and CGI. Maybe even put in some Alec Guinnes in there, just a tad not too much.

But this i would love it.

 

Yeah it could work. Ewan is a decade+ years older than the last time that he played Obi Wan anyway. And if necessary, you could always use old-age make-up, or a bit of CGI, to make him look older still. Or, you could just explain that FG's can take multiple forms if they choose (which also retroactively explains Hayden Anakin showing up in the ROTJ SE).

And given that they brought Ewan back to record new dialogue for TFA, had his AND Sir Alec Guinness's version both speak directly to Rey, AND Luke is back in the picture now, I think that there's a pretty decent chance of this happening.

Also, I'd be all for a Ewan-led Obi Wan anthology film myself.

 

It could definitely work and I would definitely be in favor of seeing Ewan in another Star Wars film. Lucasfilm has already brought him in to do a voice over in Rey's vision so they aren't against having him reprise the role so his appearance in VIII is a definite possibility. They could use makeup, CGI, or prosthetics to make him look older or more like Alec Guinness's Obi Wan.

 

If you've seen the "making of" feature the for ROTS, Ewan talks about asking GL compiling all of Alec's scenes for him, and how his face and Alec's face coincidentally matched EXACTLY and how he even wore a hair piece and all...I can definitely see these rumors happening if Ewan lost some weight in his face and/or they used Thr Benjamin Button VFX for him .

 

I hope so. It would be a GOOD way to bridge all three Trilogies.

Except he would have to pretty much be playing Alec Guiness but it would also be cool to see Alec replicated photo realistically if they have the rights to his image .

 

I'd kind of like to see Hayden back, just to see if he could do better with a better director and script. Oh and it'd also fit with Kylo's Vader obsession. And as for "bridging all three trilogies," well we kind of already have that with Anakin and his actions/legacy. But seeing it with Obi Wan could be cool as well.

 

It looked like he had the most fun in the prequels besides Ian McDiarmid and Ahmed Best .

 

I used to be against the idea. I was "Alec Guinness is the only Obi-Wan ghost I want", but... Ewan was just so good, and I think they can do some special effect stuff to make it less jarring in the transition.
So now all I'll say is "Please"

 

I'd be on board with both of them coming back !

 

It would be a bit strange to see Ewan McGregor's Obi-wan as a force ghost, as Alec Guinness' Obi-wan was who we saw at the end of Episode VI... but I'm not opposed to the idea either.

Honestly... I wouldn't mind it at all.

 

I think it is possible, but more possible that Yoda shows up.
