Absolutely. Ewan McGregor is Obi-Wan Kenobi to me. I'd rather see him than another actor or some technological recreation of Guinness.

I wonder, given all the rumors about Hayden and Ewan coming back, if we're going to get another vision scene with Rey. Perhaps we'll flash back to the attack on the Jedi Temple, followed by the duel on Mustafar. It would hammer the point home that Rey's lightsaber was not only the last weapon of Anakin Skywalker, it was also the first weapon of Darth Vader, making Rey hesitant to move forward on the Jedi path.

Yes, it's more likely that if the rumors are true, they're coming as Force Ghosts, but it's fun to speculate!

I think it could work, possibly with today's CG...Obi Wan came to Luke as a force ghost in ESB and ROTJ so why not now? Could be on his island talking with Obi Wan and Yoda (since it was confirmed Yoda's force ghost was cut from TFA)

Also a way to tie all movies together other than that other dude... what's his name... hmm.. oh yea Darth Plagueis

The way that comes to mind right away (and this is certainly not the only way to do it, just one possibility) is that, if Luke is somewhat reluctant to train Rey because of what happened with Ben, that's when Obi Wan appears. Basically he points out that he got his "second chance" with Luke after what happened with Anakin, and no Luke also has one with Rey.

It'd be interesting to see him and Rey talk as well, given that he was calling out to her in her vision.

I'm so game. I love Ewan as Obi-Wan especially in episode III. He deserves to be apart of anything star wars. Same with hayden...but as long as the execution is strongly well done under the two directors of Rian Johnson and colin Trevorow, then I have no doubts for Ewan and hayden if they do return.

My opinion is instead of making the audience adjust to Ewan in makeup("oh, they did that because the older actor is dead...hmm ok, back to the movie"), or some 'almost-but not quite' attempt at a CGI Guinness, why not just use the perfectly good Yoda as your token force ghost?

Save Ewan for a post ROTS spinoff film where all of a sudden he has a new apprentice and Obi confronts Vader for the first time(even though the first time was in ANH). Oh, and Maul is there. And a 16yo Han Solo helps out.

Eh I'm done with the whole maul vs obi lol. And a young solo? Well not so sure about that idea. But I do think saving Ewan for an Obi-Wan spin off would be for the best.

I'm no fan of the PT, but Ewan put in a good performance all round- considering the material.
I think this might help to give the PT more meaning or relevance for those who enjoyed them.

I just hope it's Old Ben, not some nonsensical young Ben ala Hayden Christensen in ROTJ.

I believe the importance of the First Jedi Temple is that it allows Luke to communicate with Force ghosts that have lost the ability to appear anywhere.
So I would bet on this rumor to be true. Also, Yoda.

Also rumors of Hayden Christen appearing as a force ghost... so perhaps the trend of The LIGHT = Obi-wan force ghost AND The DARK = Anakin force ghost. One for Rey and the other for Kylo Ren!

Well I think if Obi appears to Rey, it won't matter that he's young or Old. You could say he appeared Old to Luke because that's how Luke knew him.

Also...We might as well get Quigon in on this dead Jedi orgy.

I hope they dont use Ewan. I rather want an Cgi Alec or just his voice again, than Ewan. Ewan IS the young Obi Wan and sir Alec IS the old Obi Wan, that is just how it is, DONT change that. If they can't do an good Cgi of sir Alec, dont use him as an physical force ghost, just use his voice again, that worked great in The Force Awakens.

What if you can't tell its CGI or not? They could blend Ewan's performance by overlaying Ewan's performance with Mo-Cap structures on his face and blend Alec's features into his performance a s well as voice-blending similar to BB-8 in TFA .

I think bringing back Force ghosts of characters from past films is an error - story wise.
Sure, there would be a charm to it but it will diminish the OT story and throw up way too many questions and plot holes.
If Kenobi, Anakin and Yoda are just able to hang around forever, then there isn't really any sacrifice on their part or loss on Luke's part.
For me, the emotional impact of the ROTJ climax is that Anakin gives his life for his son. That he is willing to face oblivion for him. Alongside this, Luke then has to say goodbye to his father and was only able to share a few short moments with him. Yet if Anakin can just come back again and again then that emotional impact is diminished. Luke hasn't really lost anyone. Same with Kenobi.

I always thought that there was a limit to how long a Force ghost could hang around. That it took a lot of energy to retain ones spirit and that eventually that energy would join the Force for good. It was also my view that the Force ghosts only stayed around when they served a purpose and that their energy was connected with the mindset and needs of the person that encounters them. I'd also imagine they could only appear to those who knew them in life.

I thin having them go away forever would require way too much more information than having them stick around meaning more money and time
    Spent .

I think it is easier to say:

Luke: Force spirits cannot remain in the physical remain forever

    To answering:

Luke: Hey - Yoda, Ben, father, why didn't you tell me:
    1) About Snoke?
    2) That Ben was going to slaughter the Jedi?
    3) Where the FJT was hidden?
    Etc etc etc

It would be interesting for Anakin Skywalker to show to Luke Skywalker and Vader to show to Ben Solo's dreams .
