Great point. If Yoda was out there piloting ships, it's actually safer to assume there are options for Ewoks, instead of thinking the opposite.

I was actually just thinking in terms of their ROTJ technological capabilities. That completely overlooks the fact that, if they are in league with and helping out with the Alliance/New Republic/whatever they are called now then they would have access to pretty much any of the latest cutting-edge technology.

I don't know that I would like to see a whole Ewok squad or anything like that, but it would be a cool way to incorporate all of the previous films if they could tie in a few of the species we have seen throughout the saga. I would love to see the Alliance as a galactic "melting pot" - Ewoks, Bothans, Barabels, Mon Calamari, Gungans, Rodians, etc etc. Oh, and Twi'leks - I love Twi'leks.

Not sure it is a good idea to give advanced technology to a race that worships Golden Rod as some kind of God.

Hahaha. I'm inclined to agree with you, though I've already angered enough ewok fans for one day..

I like the Ewoks, they are a nice counterpoint to the advanced technology of the Empire and indeed the Rebels. To show them in TFA using this technology would seem to be out of place with the reasoning behind their original creation.

The rebels interfering with the natural advancement of their culture would also violate the prime directive...eh er wrong film. Oops!

I see ewoks in two places in the movie, I can strongly imagine the scenes (based on the rumors):

Wicket as a high ranked officer. A nod to the fact that the Rebels rewarded the little heroes from ROTJ and are greatful.

The other being the Ewokeese Squad that goes on dangerous field missions, environments and serves as councillors to soldiers on the field. I see them struggling with the technology. Like not knowing what to do with a Thermal detonator or Binoculars goggles. C3PO could then be used as their official translator. Fullfilling his destiny as being the GOD that would lead the Ewoks out of their world.

Unspoiled planet? dude... a death star just blew up in orbit. The ecological damage from the fallout alone... hell, the new desert planet could BE the (former) forest moon of Endor...

LOL. That is one of the things that crossed my mind what if the desert was Endor? I was thinking that perhaps it was the location of Luke's "force event that scared him into hiding" might have had ecological consequences. I had not even considered the possibility of debris. It certainly would explain why there are broken down AT-ATs and such. Tatooine was always so far from the action in both PT and OT.

in the ending of return of the jedi there is a massive celabration on ENDOR including most of the main charecters such as luke,Han,chewie,r2-d2,c3p0 etc. surely if the debri was going to destroy endor then they would have left asap, anyway wicket the ewok (
) is coming back so the ewoks are still around

    Grand Admiral Ackbar: "General Wicket?"
    Wicket:"Yup yub?"
Grand Admiral Ackbar:"Prepare your troops, there has been an awakening, have you felt it?"
    Wicket:"Aaaatalooo yub, yup yub"

Davis could be playing just about anything. He had roles in the PT 2 in PM. Given they have made a story about it I think he will be reprising Wicket.

I liked the Ewoks so having one or two around would be cool. If they are handled reasonably and consistent with the way they have already been shown. I don't see them as forming an elite commando unit. I do see Wicket wanting to say close to Leia's side. Perhaps he lost his parents like many of his tribe who got slaughtered trying to help Han and friends. A Jedi ewok I suppose could work but also comes off a little cutsie.

It could take years for the radiation from the reactor core to decimate the ecological system of Endor... and, while Warwick Davis will be returning, it is believed he will make a cameo as a cantina musician, not as an Ewok...

The Force is a bit furry with this one...
