    I think it's costume. Wasn't there a report a long time ago that the ackbar mask was spotted on set?
    I personally don't mind Grunberg. Having watched most of his roles with JJ, I don't think he is bad.

    Its not like the guy isn't an actor. He exists outside of JJ Abrams. Its just that they are also friends and like to work together.

    No one complains about nepotism when discussing Lucas handing over directing reins on ESB to his college professor. A man who had never directed a sci-fi blockbuster before. Or when Tim Burton continually cast his (former) wife and multiple academy award nominee Helena Bonham carter in his movies. Or when Francis Ford Coppola cast his daughter in Godfather....oh wait...bad example.

    People in Hollywood are in fact people. They work with who they like to work with. Just as in the real world, that level of comfort can aid them during the very stressful and trying production.

    No one gave a damn when all those Lucas and McCullum kids and relatives had a job in Star Wars, or when directors like Nolan hires all the same actors again and again. Grunberg is Abrams lucky charm, if it helps I´m in. I actually like that guy he is sympathetic and I guess you can have a lot of fun with him on set. If he brings something like this into the movie and makes friends with the leads it could work. Maybe he plays a mashup of Darklighter(old friend of Luke) and Wedge, is in all major space battles.

    I'm pretty damn sure that if he got the part it's because he fits well in it. I don't think JJ would Blast a 200 million film with a bad cast just to please his friend. Come on. He's smarter than that.

    I did know this stuff too and I don't liked it either. (I suppose that I'am movie nerd like you)
    Please don't understand me wrong, but I don't need a lecture nor begged for it.
    I think at the age of 36 and 3/4 I guess that I know a bit how the world works.

    I'm not saying you don't understand the world. I'm just saying talent and acquaintance don't have to be mutually exclusive. You can hire someone you know who also deserves it. If you don't like Grunberg for his acting, that is fine. But if you do like his acting, but still disapprove of the hiring just because they know each other, then that isn't fair to the actor.

    Personally I have nothing against Grunberg, I don't know him in person, maybe he is a good guy.
    I don't know him at all, I read that he was in a series called Heroes. (never watched it)
    Grunberg is not popular here in Germany, even Quinto is not well known.
    I just dislike nepotism, that was my message.
    I don't like it in my business, in movies or elsewhere, if people get jobs, because they know someone.
    Others who would fit much better getting overlooked.
    I hope that I was able to clarify my standpoint.

    Do you have any idea how come SWU and MSW had the same pictures? How does that usually work? Is it the same source giving away the pictures to multiple sites?
    Or do the sites share content with each other behind closed doors?
    It's just so weird, if anything I would have expected SWU to release those photos.

    I don't get all the bitterness surrounding the idea that Luke is not onscreen much in this movie.
    Since when has screen time been some kind of reflection of acting ability anyway? If Grunberg is in the film for more frames than Hamill, then that's probably... because... that's what the script dictated. What the story that is being told entailed.
    Seriously, people need to shake this idea that Hamill (if he is indeed only in a few scenes) is somehow being punished, or not shown enough respect. Because thinking of it in those terms is actually pretty disrespectful to everyone involved in the filmmaking industry...

    I don't know. R2D2 was on screen far more than Obi-Wan in ANH. And Kenny Baker is clearly a better actor than Sir Alec Guinness. I think the theory holds.

    That was my guess as well. It's kind of childish IMHO. They post lots of stuff exclusive to their site and as soon as you release some photos, the trust they hold for their source gets thrown out the window.
    They've been milking those pictures for months. Showing drawings of them is so bloody stupid.

    You spoke logically about JJ and that's not allowed.

    People around here have twisted themselves into pretzels convincing themselves and each other that he is a cinematic creative genius.

    He does no wrong. He has never made a bad casting decision. He has never directed a bad movie, written a corny plot device, or allowed a tv series to become a parody of itself.

    He was disneys first and only choice.

    If not for JJ, Star Wars would be dead.

    Spielberg borrows from HIM.

    If he wrote a Star Wars sequel with no Luke, it's because the force willed him to.

    He doesn't choose stories, they choose his flawless mind.

    He is JJ. Criticism is not only disallowed...it doesn't even compute.
