    It's really hard to judge and compare the climate then to how it is now - because back then you could have told everyone the entire plot to ROTS and Lucasfilm would not have even batted an eyelid... yet if you shared a 20-year-old photo of a Taun Taun that happened to have a "Hyperspace" logo because it was taken from the paid-for area of the official site they came down on you like a tonne of bricks!

    I dont have a site. I actually feel pretty loyal to this one. But I've seen the cleeson pic and just wanted to share what I noticed. It might not be anything. But I thought there is a face by the window in a hologram that cleeson is looking directly at. And it looks like the cyborg. It even has a red light in the eye

    On the other hand, we also got regular, officially released photos from the set and featurettes on starwars.com. As secretive as they *tried* to be with those films, they still realized that it didn't do any harm to show us a tree from the set, or a glove from someone's costume. And it did a lot for the fanbase. I'm not suggesting that Lucasfilm has to do all of that now, but a happy medium between then and now would be nice. :D

    I've been out on an overnight sailing trip, and I just got home a couple of hours ago.

    So, yesterday I'm hoisting sails and I was thinking, you know, since I couldn't do
    my usual once a day check in here, I bet some new TFA photos or info will be
    posted...

    Needless to say, I am a happy camper.

    It's great to see that NN and Ackbar will be returning!

    So if they've been an imperial thing for the whole OT then why would the Resistance/Republic be employing the use of them now? And why would an X-Wing pilot have like eight of them?

    They are emergency signal flares. Pretty much anyone in the SW films who was a pilot of some sort, had a few of them somewhere on their flightsuit or jacket.

    The original idea in the OT came from a WWII Luftwaffe Pilot's leg belt that held flare cartridges for the Heeres Leuchtpistole, which was a flare launcher/signal pistol.

    For comparison, here's a Luftwaffe Pilot Figure with a couple of the belts (most pilots only carried one), and a pic of Luke in his flight suit with one-

    I'll get downposted into oblivion for this post but one of the reasons I originally liked this site was that Viral was above the mudslinging that other Star Wars fan sites engaged in. I thought it was commendable the way that he handled that infamous night where Jason from MSW came on here and drunkenly insulted everyone. I get that you feel like Jason stole your thunder but it pains me to see the Star Wars community divided amongst fan sites.... And calling MSW out like this just adds fuel to the fire. Rise above it man. He has info and you have info, both of yall can release it whenever you want, there are no rules to this game so don't get disappointed when you are the only one playing by any.
