I voted for the X-wing only just ahead of the Y-Wing. The X-wing is iconic and the best all round fighter but I love the battered/indestructible look of the Clone war era fighter bomber that is the Y-wing.

Nah to be honest sometimes I took all of them (one by one) for a fly around home. I cannot deny it is really really hard to not give up for a fly :). I'm happy to found out I'm not the only one who do this haha. Greetings and thanks for welcome me.

While I acknowledge the iconography of the X-Wing. No Star Wars sound effect is as cool as the TIE Fighter scream.

As for the OT, Id say Vader's own TIE fighter was sleek. Big ups go to the B Wing, the Y Wing & the TIE Bomber.

If I were a rebel pilot, I'd ask to fly a Y Wing.

I'm torn... Y-Wing got my vote, but if I could get one for each faction then the classic TIE runs it a very close second for me.

I always loved the fact that while the X-Wing is iconic, the appearance of the Y and TIE in Episode IV really lifts the fiction and feels totally detached from the principles and constraints of aircraft back in the real world. The X-Wing still effectively has traditional horizontal wings, where the Y was more 'rocket-ship' and the TIE just has the never to throw all the real world physics out the window and go for a completely unique (or bonkers) look.

I love starfighters. To give you an idea of how much so, when I was little, Empire was my least favorite of the trilogy simply because it didn't have a space battle (though before you go back in time to smack my five-year-old self, I still loved Empire).
And my favorite was always the X-Wing. It's just a classic.
Though the TIE Interceptor was always a close second. The dagger-style wings just looks so cool.

B wing, because it is the most powerful, even if difficult to pilot in a dogfight or against Tie Interceptors.

Among this list, Nothing beats this baby.
Tie comes in second with a tsunami wave of differet variants.
The A-Wing would be my third favorite, and most likely my preference of starfighter if I, myself, was personally in the Rebellion.

I would have chosen Slave I as my top pick if it was on this list.

I always adored the SFX of the TIE Fighter. Ben Burtt is a freakin genius! The SFX for all of the films is gorgeous.

I have to go with the Y-wing. I really like the utilitarian ruggedness it has. The greebles and details were pain stakingly applied to the original model. Its just freggin cool, like a jeep.
