It was shorter than usual, they usually have long interviews with Dave. He clarified that he is still involved with Rebels (even recording sessions) but has more work and responsibilities, the Rebels will have a long and difficult fight with Thrawn, we will have many interesting details over the season with the Force, Maul, Bendu, etc. He seems excited about the season and said something along the line: We will have a lot to talk about. I expected more, their interviews with Dave sometimes run for hour or two.

Dave called later from the car and talked a little more about Attolon where Rebel Base is. Bendu and the spiders are very old, the Rebels are out of place. Spiders react to their fear and anxiety (fear-hate-suffering) and see them as danger. We will see more of Bendu and learn more about his motivations. The same goes for Kallas, Dave said he is a very surprising character. He dodged the question about connections with Rogue One.

When you have time, listen just to hear Dave talking about the Force and the Jedi, it's worth it. He said that although they existed for very long time, Jedi were still evolving - Yoda from prequels didn't know that Jedi use the Force only for defense, because it obviously wasn't true. They are learning and their teachings are evolving. They are not set in stone and seeing them as such or as absolutely right is wrong. Which is one of the reasons Lucas and now Dave & Co. are introducing other points of view, other Force users.

Super cool, thanks a ton for the summary. I'll listen to it next week sometime, I'm just swamped with work :(.

I love listening to Dave. I watched all the behind the scenes for clone wars and find him super engaging.

I was lucky enough to hang out with him at a party a few years ago (6ish?). We talked for a bit. Other fans were begging to know what happens to Ashoka. I told him I didn't want to know, the journey is more fun than the destination. He said "this guy really gets it, I wish I could tell you more, but I can't".

I'm super rambly and off topic, but I'm going a bit bonkers for working 20 days in a row.

p.s. It is a bit weird I hate the idea of having an avatar but don't mind posting my image or telling people my name. filoni.jpg

Taylor Gray (Ezra) was a guest on Force Cult podcast and said that we will see a lot of Bendu on the show this season, that he is basically one of the major characters this season. We will see how truly powerful he is and why is he not using that power. Bendu is Taylor's favorite character, he learned more about the Force from this middle ground character than before.

There were hints that green light we saw in the trailer is or is similar to Nightsisters' magic, Taylor used word magic in the conversation. Mandalore will happen in the second part of the season. All the episodes that would previously be considered filler - one offs - will be in some way connected to the major plot. Naturally, he says that this is the best season. :)

I really didn't know about this character, I had to do some reading on Wookieepedia. I think that this guy sounds like a bada** and it would be a perfect little nod to legend fans.

Even if it isn't him, I hope we get a villain pilot at some point. Why do the pilots never get a foil? They just face off against more faceless opponents.

I really never paid attention to troopers or pilots until after I read Lost Stars than my whole outlook changed. I want to see a backstory of the "enemy.

I'll admit my EU knowledge is very limited, with this upcoming episode of Rebels, has Wedge's backstory ever been told?

I don't think he had much of a backstory in the old EU, but he was a central character in a great series of X-wing books. They take place a few years after ROTJ though.

How does everyone feel with Wedge once being part of the empire? Does it change anyones opinion on his action during the movies? For me, it's always nice to know the backstory for everyone.

Sorry, but I had to give you a clouded as we have seen this technique used many times before, just more subtly.

No worries. For me, the technique had never been used so obviously in canon. It felt (to me) as if the writers of Rebels were making a connection between Maul and Kylo Ren. Perhaps my perception about the previous use of the technique has been affected by the use of interrogation droids by Darth Vader in ANH.

Yeah, I think the interrogation droid clouded your memories. That, and Kylo Ren also using one in TFA :p.

I remember the Jedi using it a number of time during The Clone Wars. The Jedi don't believe in harming innocents if they can help it, so unlike the Sith it's not as "intrusive". Some were on people who sustained head injuries I think, as they were more susceptible in that mental state.

Vader also used the technique to probe Luke's mind in ROTJ. That's how he found out about Leia. He just didn't need to push as much because he was either more efficient than Ren and Maul, or Luke really let his guard down.

Being a serf without access to Disney XD, has anyone heard when S3 is likely to debut on iTunes UK?

You can actually find a few of the episodes on YouTube if you know where to look. ;)

MOD NOTE: Don't actually link to the episodes in question. Also, please promise to support the official release if you're gonna cut corners right now.

one thing that bothers me is they never addressed one of the key reasons why they went to Malachor. The Inquisitors at the end of last season where able to track them almost wherever they went. Kanan wanted to figure out why that was happening. So that old batch of Inquisitors got killed but it never explained how they where tracking them and since we can assume Vader has more Inquisitors why they stopped all of a sudden.
