Just in case it isn't already floating around out there, I'm pitching a completely baseless rumor for a May the Fourth teaser/trailer release for RO to anyone who'll listen. Any glimpse before then would just be an unexpected bonus to me!

It seems to me, they'll be Jedi in rogue one. Why use that particular voice over otherwise. I haven't heard anyone talking about that. Also, does anyone know what planet it's supposed to be with the jungle? Theories?

 

I just realized...in ROTS Obi-Wan Kenovi recalibrated rhe code at the Jedi temple for the Jedi to stay away from Coruscsnt...what if a part of R1 has the storm troopers finding out and these new characters trying to protect the code unwittingly ?

From everything they've said, this movie will not have any Jedi in it.

It's supposed to take place only during the 12 months before ANH is my understanding of how they've presented the premise.


I'm very anxious to see a trailer.

 

I didn't mean to say they'd have Jedi in it but there could be references to The Jedi Order .

 

Well, they might mention how Vader wiped out the Jedi order, but I think something like the warning code from ROTS is so esoteric that it would require a flashback to really explain, and that would require showing Kenobi and Yoda.

This movie was described by Edwards as, (more or less) "a war movie where there is no God."

I think they are trying to do a movie that has a heist/spy element, but that features action and characters akin to the two Death Star assaults and the defense of Hoth, ones in which no Jedi played any part.

The first two Anthology movies they chose to make work perfectly well if they have zero Jedi references.

I think they are consciously trying to separate the trilogy movies which are Skywalker and Jedi based with the Anthology films, and get more to the "Star Wars" element rather than the Space Opera family drama side that drives Ep 1-9.

Will there be references to the Jedi Order? Maybe a few, but in my opinion, the film won't have any plot elements that involve the Jedi like the one you theorized.

 

You're right ... Maybe the most they'd say are hush hush hush whispers of rumors of Darth Vader being in The Jedi Order and/or mentions of "hokey religions" .

 

Now, one possibility is bringing in Jimmy Smitz and aging him up slightly (though the time gap is pretty close...and if you've seen Smitz on Breaking Bad, well, he looks 20 years older than in ROTS) and have him mention bringing in "General Kenobi"

Imagine the last scene in R1 being in that ship from end of ROTS and beginning of ANH and communicating with Alderaan. Bail Organa has been told they are under attack over Tattooine and tell them to get a message to "General Kenobi, any way you can."

I could see them doing that to provide another hook back into the OT, making R1 a kind of prologue to ANH's Jedi element as well as the Death Star plans MacGuffin.

That would kind of work, and it would only require Jimmy Smitz for one day, and I bet they could do it without it leaking. That would be a neat connection to both OT and PT

 

Yeah the leaking would be hard especially since people like Frank sox and Ewan McGregorwere never even leaked lol .
