Im also curious what to see what this show can do with modern technology when added to mass space battles and squadron attacks/runs. Think mando level tech just in space!

ok, so the hive of speculation and inaccuracy that is the Twitterverse is suggesting that the Patty Jenkins flick isn't just delayed, it's shelved - along with the barely mentioned recently RJ trilogy...

what do we think Cantina patrons? nature abhors a vacuum and as such people are just filling that void with nonsense or there's no smoke without fire?

Doesn't the same twitterverse think previous films were rushed and should have been delayed so they could be made good?

Solo is an exception of course. They like that one, even though they didn't go and see it because of the boycott. They take credit for doing a great job of making it a flop and at the same time arguing it wouldn't have been a flop if it had been delayed and promoted better.

So now a film does get delayed and that must mean it's cancelled. Can't be so it can be made to be good.

    Have I got that right?

Just hate-mongery and clickbaiting at work. Total nonsense. The Twitterverse and their ilk (yt comment sections, for instance), have less than zero % credibility at this point. Hyperbole and boredom, is all. IMHO.

I wouldn't be surprised if they've gone on to develop it into a streaming live action TV show instead.

The rumoured Ob-Wan movie eventually became a show made for TV, and before that it was originally suggested there was going to be Boba Fett movie. I suspect that became The Mandalorian for TV. And then Boba Fett anyway, also for TV.

I wonder if they are gradually coming to the conclusion that episodic streaming TV shows is the future for Star Wars rather than regular movies. Keep quite on the cinematic front for a while. With Maybe a trilogy every fifteen years or so! :p

That is all of course just me pondering what could be, but will all be 'facts' and 'scoops' from my unnamed inside sources in my upcoming YouTube video.

    Tackle this in two parts.

First off, the Lucasfilm track record with film creators is really bad. At this point there's no reasonable way to deny this. Rogue One secretly swapped directors, Solo fired the directors, Rise or Skywalker fired its director, the B&W directors left before they even started--all over creative differences.

As for the RJ trilogy, it's safe to say this thing is gone. It was announced in 2017 and since then has received no official mention. That's four years without a single official production update. They've slated their projects for the next several years and it was not included in those plans. If this trilogy is still in the works, it's in development hell and there's no reason to assume we will see it in the next five years.

because of this history, it's hard to believe that the Jenkins film is simply "delayed," especially given credible reports of creative differences. It's the old "fool me once" thing, except this time it's "fool me five times."

I would like to see this project, but realistically? At best, a director swap. At worst, cancelled.

I was just speaking with a friend about this yesterday. The recent troubling trend that Jaxon discussed above when it comes to recent (Disney-owned) SW films continues on.
What I would give to be a fly on the wall during these meetings.... I will just say there are 3 sides to every story: what he said, what she said, and what really happened. Unless someones got a video of the meetings, one side's bias will usually be relayed by the one telling the story.

That's the question though isn't it? Are they credible?

It's not that their deductions are necessarily wrong, it's just frequently questionable that it's from 'exclusive' inside information. Make enough speculations and deductions, eventually some of them are going to be right, and with this current situation it's easy to make a prediction that could also be true in some form. Which will then validate them in the eyes of their followers, despite perhaps being wrong more often than being right.

I'm also coming round to thinking the Rian Johnson is probably not going to happen now too, but that might no be for the reasons the 'haters' think. But whatever happens in their favour, they will always claim they made it happen.

When Kathleen Kennedy finally leaves of her own choosing - and she will leave eventually - I'm sure they will claim it as a 'success' of years of campaigning.

Agreed. I've seen nothing to suggest that Lucasfilm doesn't love Rian Johnson. But between the ongoing success of Knives Out and the sheer amount of awfulness Johnson took from SW "fans," it's easy to imagine why he'd abandon his trilogy plans, if he has.

Johnson has re-affirmed the project over half-a-dozen times at this point, most recently back in February. We haven't seen anything to suggest that this has changed. Johnson's movie was the most drama-free production of any Disney SW film to date, and he repeatedly stated that making TLJ was the most fun and creative fulfilling experience he's ever had and that he'd love to do more; he even stated this, repeatedly, during the promotion of Knives Out, a production that by all accounts was a warm and amazing time for everyone involved. If Johnson loved making a Star Wars even more than he enjoyed doing Knives Out, it's safe to assume he has not quietly abandoned the franchise.

Before Knives Out came out, hate-mongers claimed the movie was trash and that Johnson had lost any chance of ever doing another Star Wars. When in fact it was a smashing success, the argument was turned on its head and now Johnson is too successful to have any chance of ever doing another Star Wars. Damned if you do and damed if you don't.

Johnson's changed his tune back and forth a bit if I remember rightly. At one point he said it was up to LFL and they were getting their schedule in order. Then last year when LFL announced what, like 5-6 years worth of films/shows nothing was mentioned. No one in an official capacity at Disney has so much as whispered about this in a while. Last time I remember anyone saying anything was KK talking how Rian was getting together with the two guys from Game of Thrones to work out the future of where they were going. Or did I imagine she said that?

Anyway, who really knows? Was he given a contract? And even if he was, films die in preproduction (or the early development stage) all the time. If it happens, it happens. If not? Oh well. Not sure why either side is so dug in on demanding "IT ISN'T HAPPENING NO DAMN WAY!!!" Or the opposite.

I think the more important thing in all of this is the continuing trend of announcing projects before they really should be announced. There is nothing wrong with pushing something back like what we've seen lately with Marvel, but I really wish they'd not jump the gun and announce things until they are ready to go into production. And STOP just jumping at directors who are like the shiny new toy. Sorry for the mini rant.
