I like this:

Luke goes back to Bespin with Lando after ROTJ, attempting to find his saber to pass it down to young Ben.

It is found and given to Ben.

Ben has it taken away by Luke after he senses the Darkside in Ben.

Ben turns and goes off to train with Snoke.

Before Ben can return as Kylo Ren to murder Luke's students and reclaim his grandfather's first lightsaber, Luke gives it to Maz to keep out of his hands, in fear he may come back for it and use it for evil.

I can hear Lando now:

"Me and Luke spent days digging through trash to find that hunk of metal"

 

Why does everyone think Luke or Leia will die in VIII? We do not need them to die to make this movie epic.

 

Could Han Solo appearance in Ep VIII be in a Kylo Ren childhood flashback?
(it's the only way i figure it without messing up the narrative logic)

 

I think the new cast did such a good job of making us invest in them, that the older cast members became less of a focus than we originally though?

 

I'm just praying desperately that Captain Asthma (*never does anything*) figures out some respiratory treatment for Ep. VIII and gets a MOVE ON!! Such a misused character in Ep. VII when she could have been an absolute boss! (Gwendoline Christie is still a beast!) But instead what we got from TFA reminded me of the safety patrol in elementary school, except in a shiny Stormtrooper's outfit. I kept waiting for her to yell from off camera in one of the Star destroyer scenes: "No Running In the Halls!!!"

 

Did anyone catch what Colin Trevarow said about writing Episode 9? I had thought Rian Johnson was writing both 8 & 9? Was that a mistake?

Or perhaps are they writing 9 together? Or is Johnson just assisting a helping hand with Trevarow writing 9?

Now that I think about it... when would Johnson have time to write 9?

 

I thought Johnson was writing a treatment or outline for it?

 

In the info I've seen Rian is writing VIII and IX. Maybe Colin is going to pitch in for IX with Rian??

I think they may even add some more scenes. The "vision/flashback" really disappointed me in TFA. I hope they can redeem it in the next movie.

 

It was supposed to be longer and is in the novelization. Rey actually sees Luke and Vader dueling when she's in the Cloud city portion. I believe that may have actually been shot too based on some production photos I've seen.

 

I can see a lot of these concepts and deleted things from VII appearing in VIII in some form .

 

But we did have a technical flashback in VIO to Bespin .

 

Didn't JJ say in some interview that he didn't include some parts of the script in the actual movie because Johnson asked that? That could allude to Johnson going to either A) use them in the ep 8 or B) make change to them so that they won't be used as they were originally written?
