    The new intel on Canto Bight, BDTs character, ship and the casino all sound intriguing - could BDT be a new smuggler/gambler type fulfilling something akin to the Han/Lando roles in previous films perhaps?

    The only thing that bothers me (though that may be too strong a term, perhaps makes me go "huh?") is the CBPD and reference to the idea that it likely means police department... it just doesn't sit right with me yet as it feels too grounded in 'real world' stuff to appropriate such familiar US terminology and insert it into the SW universe. We've never really seen the Western alphabet used in the franchise to date, it's been the more alien Aurebesh.

    No need for post-flaming, I'm just thinking out loud.

    The whole CBPD comes from a text in Aurabesh on the police officers (?) helmet. I'm certain that no one will use the term "Police Department" on-screen. Besides, we've already seen police-like forces in Star Wars: we've seen actual police on Coruscant in TCW and the Bespin Wing Guard (the ones in nice blue outfits.) Also, someone suggested that "PD" in CBPD may be "Planetary Defence," which is definitely much better than "Police Department." Still, I agree that usage of term "Police Department" would be a bit weird.

    I was about to say the same thing. Also, the whole "Snoke is kill" thing makes no sense to the overall development of the story.

    Just some thoughts that could help ease your concerns

    1. As mentioned above, probably won't even be mentioned, using Aurebesh is basically an easter egg

    2. If Canto is the only settlement on the planet, it could easily mean "Planetary Defence"

    This news is....ehhhh....I have to see it...Once they start saying Star Trek, it gets me worried we are straying too far from Star Wars and what made it unique and great.

    Don't worry about it. No one is going to confuse Star Wars for Star Trek. Further, I don't want Star Wars to be forever beholden to Ralph McQuarrie's designs.

    jason from making Star Wars was saying he's found out that luke isn't alone on the island or perhaps the planet does have a native culture but he's seen a pic of a female creature with a costume like a nun. Strange headgear design. He didn't know how prominent a role the creature will have in the film though.

    I'm thinking it could be a cool way to use Ahsoka?

    Maybe she rescued Rey from the slaughter at the academy and hid her on Jakku?


    And reports of Convorees on the island with Luke. Aren't they always around Ahsoka?

    While that would be nice, I think we can rule out Legends characters with 99% certainty. Some of these characters may be the spiritual brothers and sisters to Legends characters, but they won't end up being the actual Legends characters. No matter how badly some fans want it, we simply aren't going to see Mara Jade and her ilk in the films(even if Luke is given a love interest).

    In all seriousness though, there is a big difference between a Legends character popping up in a show or a book than seeing a main character in a film show up as a Legends character.

    Also of note, show runner Dave Filoni is a bit of a Legends fan himself(he even included one of Thrawn's maneuvers in an episode of TCW). Heck, had The Clone Wars continued on uninterrupted, he had written an episode with the Yuuzhan Vong in it. The vast majority of people involved in the films have little to no knowledge of or interest in Legends stories however.

    Now if Filoni ever gets to start directing live action movies, then we might have something.

    Everything thing is possible however, hence the reason I said 99% instead of 100%. Possible doesn't mean likely though.

    I get where you are coming from but it still is a case of a legends character being incorporated into the cannon universe which is something I didn't think would happen when the old legends was wiped from canon.

    I personally think this maybe a one off also it's worth noting that while he retained his legends name & race his back story looks mostly brand new.

    If you put her in. Even for one scene with Luke where he's referring to HER as master(I know she's gone) or being deferential to her as the older wiser one,

    You then open up an entire lifetime of stories for fans, where has she been all these years? How did she end up meeting luke? Etc etc. Comics, books

    Maybe even a tv series


    She could be sitting there telling luke all about his father as one who experienced him as a father in a true sense.
    It would be cool.
