General Star Wars - The Rise of Skywalker News and Rumors Thread

And probably over exaggerated like the whole Luke using his power to bring down star destroyers that was suppose to happen.

 

Things are starting to get a little too spoilery for me...normally I'm all for it but we're starting to get the whole plot now (of course not 100% accurate)

 

That would have been cool.

I have to say, the volume of rumors coming out now is getting a bit overwhelming for me. I'm grateful for all of the insight, but much of the info is contradictory and obviously needs to be taken with a few grains of salt. Its almost getting to be too hard for me to process. The whole experience is making me reflect on rumors and spoilers in advance of Episode VI's release back in the day.

Somehow I had more willpower to resist spoilers as an 8-year-old boy than as a 44-year-old man (which, sadly, says too much about me). I remember in 1983 I had a copy of the storybook of "Return of the Jedi" days before I saw the film, and resisted reading it. Now I scoop up every morsel of information about IX, and its starting to drive me nuts!

As I read a lot of the crazy rumors and theories over the last few weeks, I'm reminded of a passage from J.W. Rinzler's "The Making of Return of the Jedi:" During production,

"The Star Wars Fan Club staff dutifully read a nonstop deluge of letters and ranked the rumors therein, the most popular being:

Darth Vader kills Luke;
Luke turns to the dark side;
Luke kills Vader;
Han is rescued, then killed.

Fans also thought that the Emperor might kill Luke and that Boba Fett was either a beautiful woman, Luke's father, or perhaps, Luke's mother. Many surmised that the Emperor was a clone of Ben Kenobi."

Someone in Lucasfilm fan relations is probably doing similar work now, compiling all of our spoiler reports and fan theories. I imagine they must be enjoying watching the whole process!

As for me, I think I'll take a lesson from Masters Kenobi and Yoda and work on my patience!

I'm trying to picture how these jet troopers are gonna look on screen... and yet how much you wanna bet they're just cannon fodder, like the Sith troopers? Also... if no one makes a high ground joke I'ma be disappointed.

 

The amount of new information is starting to become a little overwhelming. Especially since we are now getting it from multiple sources. The fact that a fair amount of it does corroborate with each other does help but on the other hand there are some minor differences which makes taking it in difficult. There is also contradictory stuff that clouds things as well. Even MSW has sources that seem to be contradictory. I think in the end we have some idea of the story but I do think there will be things we don’t know as well

What’s the deal with young Luke in this vintage collection? Is young Luke going to make an appearance in the film? Old footage? Flashback?

 

Hence the tern vintage. It is just a throwback toy..to sell toys. That is why it isn't in a The Rise Of Skywalker box.

 

Ah ok, that makes sense. I haven’t bought a SW’s in my life so I have no clue about toy nomenclature and mixing vintage with new... Thanks.

 

A character I haven't heard anything about in any leaks or rumors is Lor San Tekka. Obviously he's not alive during the main timeline of Episode IX, but I hope we learn more background about him, either in dialogue or through flashback scenes. Between his post-ROTJ connection to Luke, his familiarity with Ben Solo/Kylo Ren, and his leadership position in The Church of The Force, it seems he's a fairly significant character. Also, the fact that Rey is going on missions to recover lost Jedi and Sith artifacts seems very similar to the work Lor San Tekka was doing with Luke post-ROTJ. If he turns out not to be featured in Episode IX, perhaps we can see more of this character in the "Mandalorian," or one of the other TV Series.

 

Yeah... you never know what they might do with flashbacks though. They could have easily shot an extra scene with him for TFA and use it in Ep IX. I quite like the idea that they could bring back small elements from TFA that no-one has really speculated on much at all.

@Kylocity I noticed the difference in color between Luke's orange pant-suit and P-dizzles. And they added a logo.

But what I don’t get is why they always have Luke with that teacup haircut
