    Luke begins the movie hanging upside down and basically ends the movie, but rescued hanging upside down?

    True, but I'm not talking about the exact first minute of the movie. I'm talking about in the beginning of it and the last minutes of the movie. It rhymes. So you fail with the snarkyness, your highness.

    No, you said: "Luke begins the movie hanging upside down". He doesn't. He's riding a tauntaun on patrol. And he's definately not upside down on the medical frigate doing handstands at the window with his leg and foot around Leia's shoulders...

    Hmm...the film starts with Luke being injured and at the end of it he is again in hospital because of an injury. ;)

    It's almost as if Lucas wanted to convey that things are screwed up at the beginning of the film and are still screwed up at the very end.

    I agree. I think it shows that Luke failed alot. Not that is bad because heroes do fail and not always perfect. Sometimes they need help.

    I have a companion book from the tour that was named" Star Wars - The Magic of Myth" .

    In it mention of Luke's journey as the hero mentions how the Cave on Hoth and the other situations where Luke is in danger are part of the classical mythic stories referenced in Joseph Campbell's " Hero with a Thousand Faces"

    Campbell's book and Campbell himself were a major influence on the story of SW.

    Luke has many things that happen to him and he reacts to and then things he chooses to do as actions not reactions that are representative of many things for him as a character in what is meant to be more than just a Science Fiction movie.

    As George Lucas has said himself " Star Wars is not just about spaceships and space battles" and many archetypes are used in the story as were in ancient classical stories hence why it's a Space Opera and more fantasy than SF.
