I'm wondering if this will mean that, somehow, the Ghost Crew will somehow become involved with the Unknown Regions. This could be an "easy out" for the crew (including Ashoka) and mean they could theoretically be "alive" during the OT films, without being seen.

I certainly don't see why not. Agent Kallus and Grand Moff Tarkin aside, we really haven't seen much competency in the Imperial officers in Rebels, so having a character like Thrawn could present a challenge to the main protagonists in a way that doesn't involve adding even more Inquisitors.

I think that could be really cool except that the FO came from there too so I think it could maybe necessitate either comics and or another tv show for them ...

I hope this is accurate. Thrawn would be a character other than Vader, that makes the Empire in Rebels seem more competent and menacing. Plus getting Thrawn re-canonized would allow for him to appear in other media as well like the movies or comics. On a side note they mentioned in the articles that season 3 is going to be closer in time to A New Hope, and with it starting in the fall does this mean we could possibly see Thrawn in Rogue One? Or conversely could we have some Rogue One characters show up in Rebels?

one interesting thing that i was thinking about after this rumour came out. Aftermath hints at some shadowy figure taking control of the remaining military forces. I wonder if they introduce thrawn in Season 3, only for his tactical genius to realise the rebellion can never be defeated. From that moment, he bides his time, accurately predicts the fall of the empire and is actually in league with snoke to rebuild, hence the technological improvements of the first order? Thus allowing BdT to play thrawn? :p

    wild guessing here btw ;)

chiss are technically human, as they are descended from human colonists... so they might have to accept him on this technicality. And it would no doubt be something argued about by other imperials.

the fact he is aliens hould be brougth up, and it should be used to give him more depth.

I don't know anything about him besides him being in some old books...are there any specific books that I should be reading to prepare my body for this experience ?

Well Tharawn was mostly used by the Empire to expand into the unknown regions in the EU, so if this is the case in new Canon, there's your explanation of where he was in OT. Amazing news if true and could hint at BDT being a returning Thrawn for EP8

A Jacen Solo fan? We will get along just fine :D Unfortunately, there is no way to change my name now is there? I've already introduced myself and made several posts. At this point I can kinda imagine Obi Wan saying "let the awkwardness flow through you".

But yea I might make a new account so I don't seem like I copied a regulars name here in Cantina.

Thrawn sounds like an interesting character, it would be refreshing and rising the stakes to have a really smart imperial against the heroes. I just think it would be kinda risky for them to use him, because there's a lot written about him in Legends, which they obviously can't use as a whole and would have to contradict it a lot, what would probably confuse and upset his fans. If they bring him, he's gonna be a brand new character, only strongly inspired by his Legends self.

Eh, I think the whole Legends banner takes care of that problem just fine. Its just like when famous comic book characters get tweaks to their origins, no really bats an eye for the most part.

As for the possibility of Thrawn, one piece of evidence in particular makes me think this could be for real.

    Kallus-concept-art.jpg
    http://nerdist.com/star-wars-rebels-introduces-agent-kallus/

This is early concept art for Agent Kallus, it seems to me that Dave Filoni would really love to reintroduce Thrawn if he was given the chance. He even had a Thrawn reference in The Clone Wars when Ashoka uses one of Thrawn's patented maneuvers in the "Storm Over Ryloth" episode, something that he directly stated was a reference to Thrawn. Add to that recent comments that Freddie Prince Jr has made about Legends characters being brought back to life in Rebels, and I would say that it seems highly likely that we will see Thrawn resurrected in the show at some point.

This would also be a great move because it would be another huge sign showing fans of Legends material that their stories haven't been forgotten, but merely reinterpreted for a new era, it could even help spike sales for certain Legends stories. After all, on fan's wishlists for EU character's to be canonized, Thrawn is pretty much at the top, rivaled only by characters like Mara Jade and Revan(who will also probably be canonized at some point).

But how else are they going to continue Ahsoka's story after Vader kills her unless they can bring in Aahsoka?
It's the only thing that makes sense. :p

If Thrawn is in Rogue One, it will blow the internet when confirmed, I hope so. I can see BDT playing the part, look at Sicario. Obviously, Grand Moff Tarkin will be numero uno, because Moff is above Grand Admiral, perhaps Thrawn will only be an Admiral at this junction.

Hey everyone. I'm currently underway (in the military) so it sucks im missing out on my Rebels. So for now im watching it all over. There is alot you can take from season 1 that I think my show up on season 3. Im only 3 episodes in and I got a few potential that might happen. plus to add into season 2 and all.

    1. Senator Organa knows about Kanan through R2D2 so the way the season 2 trailer is going and feeling by most I think he will play a big role in season 3 and have the rebels tie into R1/episode 4. I still think the Rebels might be the one who will set up a base for them with possibly Senator Organa asking them to be the ones.
    2. Does princes Leia know about Jedi's since she seen Kanan? does she go back and let her dad who already knows about them rebels. Is this where she is told about the jedi and Obi Wan and possibly gets Kanan to find him in his travels? Can we see an Obi-Wan cameo regarding saving them from Darth Vader?
    3. With the artifacts/relics they show on the S2 trailer would could see more temples the rebels come by.
    4. Ezra possibly turning to the darkside. I would like to see that happen, just to keep the momentum going that direction so it can follow the new movies and Ep. VIII. You do see Maul and someone telling Kanan that the darkside calls to him. Ezra cant control his anger and has shown his powers in season 1 and now in season 2.

May the force be with you always...

I think that's it's pretty much a-given that Leia knows who the Jedi are as Bail Organa doesn't seem like the type to hold back something that big based on how her character is in Rebels in the recent episodes. Are you talking about The Rebels setting up a base for the characters in R1? And yeah, Maul DOES seem like the most likely candidate to help turn Ezra Brisger so far .
