    As someone who was born in the interim period between the OT and the PT, my childhood was mostly spent rummaging through my father's VHS collection. Among this collection, I came across the full set of the original three episodes of Star Wars, and from that point on, I must have watched them so much and so often that it didn't take too long for them to get worn out due to excessive use.

    When I heard the news, there was this instantaneous contemplative silence that came over me - the simple realization that a prominent childhood icon of mine had passed. When you get caught up in the quick currents of crap that life tends to throw at you, you tend to forget about the basic fact that you're not getting any younger. None of us are. I didn't know her personally, and any words of condolence I say will thus ultimately ring hollow - but I knew her work, and thus words of appreciation are fair game. The greatest loss to me has always been dying before your work was done. To get ripped away from the racing track just as you're about to pass through the finish line. To never receive that moment of pure satisfaction where you can rest your laurels and say "I've won. I earned my rest." - most never really find this moment, because we all like to strive for things that we can't achieve. Whilst it saddens me to see her work on Star Wars cut short so close to that finish line, Carrie leaves behind a vast legacy of her work and a family to boot. Her candor is something I've found to be a terrific trait of hers, and I'm sure I'm certainly not the only one who'll miss it.

    Now, regarding the update - in addition to providing some levity here (or a mood whiplash, as it were), it is also going to be the last update for this year. I'm going on a vacation till 3rd January, after which we resume the standard practice of "the longer the wait time, the bigger the update".

    Since it's mostly better to be early than late, I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year, because common courtesy is easy - and easy is the only stuff my lazy ass is capable of.

    THERE IS NO BATHROOM, DOOP. Does this DEATH TEMPLE look like it SHOULD be EQUIPPED with a PROPER BATHROOM!?

    Seriously, all this LIGHTSABER HUMMING is GRATING to your EARS. So much for that IMPENDING SILENCE. It can't COME SOON ENOUGH.

    If they are identical twins, then they must be of identical strength, and possess equal fighting skills, right? I mean, I think that's how science works ;).

    Trick them into duelling each other, and since they are equals, the fight will drag on. You will have plenty of time to slip past them unopposed.

    I can see that you are a writer, you have a way with words.
    I can't say that I was ever a fan of SW before TFA. I knew the movies, I've seen them all multiple times, but never really lived them or recognized the strength of the story before I saw Kylo forcing that lightsaber through Han's heart last December. Dunno if that lack of longevity of my inclusion in the fandom makes me a worthy fan but I'd like to think what i lack in lastingness, I make up in intensity. I feel Star Wars now. It has changed me thoroughly. I will never be the same.
    Her death saddens me profoundly. Dunno if it's just cuz of her legacy in Star Wars, even if that surely has a part in it, but seeing people go before their time stirs up something deep inside me that screams with disapproval at all the conformity of charachter in people around me who choose to live their lives they are unhappy with, within the boundaries they themselves imposed on them cuz they lacked courage and strength to break away and do great things their heart, body and mind so much crave. Princess Leia was never that, she was a doer with a heavy hands-on approach, who inspired people around her for greatness...she is the only unwhinny Skywalker we met, strong but also so very fragile: a true emmotional woman who never backed out of a fight or failed to show her defiance, cuteness, desire, disgust, sass, wit, humor, love or hate, whatever the situation called for....and I think Carrie Fisher was a lot like that too.
    I know people die and exchange this purgatory otherwise known as Earth for a better place, whatever it might be: the Force, Heaven or nothingness of Entropy and the living should not mourn that but rejoice for the ones who are free now, but still I am overwhelmingly sad. Dunno when I'll be able to watch Star Wars again, now that she is gone. And if I ever get passed that, how will I do it again when Han dies too, I don't know...
    Life can sometimes suck, big time.

    Great eulogy. I was so convinced she would make it after all that talk of her condition stabilizing. Then we got the news and well... silence really came. It didn't help that we had all this Grim Reaper aesthetic going on with the Discos.
    Yes! So much this! With the addition of TELLING the OTHER TWIN that his SKILLS actually SUCK compared to his BROTHER, stirring up some of that SWEET CHILDHOOD JEALOUSY. They will just HAVE to FIGHT THEN!

    Seriously, f*ck this year. 2016 doesn't want to go out in a whimper and we are all paying for it.
    And if THIS thing GOES to FULL VIOLENCE MODE, just take your BRUCE HAT and KNOCK the FLAMES DOWN towards the TWINS FRISBEE STYLE. HOPEFULLY IT WILL NOT LAND AT THE RUST LEGIONNAIRES (it will).

    This is exactly what I'm thinking too. While I'm deeply saddened by Carrie's passing, I'm not familiar at all with Debbie Reynolds' work or character, only that she was Carrie's mother. However, for the rest of their family, I can't really imagine how things are at the moment (something for which I'm thankful for).
    This is obviously something that can never be healed fully, but the one thing required for setting things on a proper course is time. Their family and friends will require time, Lucasfilm will need it in order to fix the sudden mess that has come up, and us fans will take some time to get used to the fact that this wonderful person and Star Wars icon is now deceased.

    Sorry for derailing, @Alamact , I just figured this is a worthy topic to contribute my thoughts on.

    We all come to the series in different ways. Like Alamact, I was born between the OT and PT. Some people joined the fandom through the Prequels, some (like my parents) saw them back when they first came out. Some have discovered the story through TFA. Some, like my sister, actually found Star Wars through the original KotOR.

    As for the update: INFORM THE GUARDS that you have SAND for the KING. You mustn't be delayed. The SAND MUST FLOW. You are the KWISATZ HADER- oh, wrong sci-fi series.
