    Warning: Spoilers will be discussed.

Since Captain Phasma has been confirmed to survive this movie and we can assume that Snoke and Kylo Ren likely survive, everyone is assuming General Hux is going to die a stubborn death the way Tarkin died in A New Hope. However, Tarkin essentially had more power among the empire than Vader. His death allowed Vader to gain more power among the ranks of the empire. It's been confirmed that Hux and Kylo Ren are vying for power in this movie. I am writing because I really don't think Hux should die on Starkiller base. I haven't seen the movie yet. So it's difficult for me to justify this claim. But from right now, I would rather see his character brought more out and developed more than just killing him off. I also think it would be interesting to see the two characters fight for power in Episode VIII. What do you guys think. Is it worth killing Hux?

Personally, I would like to see him survive this movie. From what I can tell, he seems to have a rather small part, so I would consider it a waste of a potentially interesting character and a great actor to kill him off so soon. But this is mostly based on the fact that I love Domhnall and I think he's hilarious in interviews. If it really served the story, I'd get over it.

I... think so, but I'm not 100% sure.
There has to be some sort of triumph for the heroes in a physical sense, and I think that beyond the probably destruction of Starkiller, the death of Hux does that well. I do agree that there are some interesting stories that could still be told with him, but he doesn't seem to be a main character, so I wouldn't prioritise those if I was in charge.

The one thing I'll say is that he doesn't neccesarily have to go out in the same manner as Tarkin, in fact I'd find it to be a nice reversal if instead he was attempting to flee the station but doesn't quite make it.

If Hux dies, he should go out in an awesome way. For example, maybe he tries to overthrow Snoke so Kylo kills Hux to save Snoke. It would be a cool reversal of how in I-VI the Sith are all vying for power while the Imperial generals, admirals, and moffs are patsies.

No it will never be worth it,

They have a chance to not go the Tarkin 2.0 route by simply having him survive the first movie.

But unfortunately it seems like he'll be pushing daisies by the time the credits role.

How can anyone make an assessment on this? How many interesting side characters from the Empire were off'd within minutes of their introduction in the original trilogy? A character exists to serve the story. Preserving 'interesting' characters doesn't make the story any better.

I'm not assuming kylo or snoke or anything else.. ... How would we know if he's worth killing if we don't have any clue who he is? All I know is... General Hux ... is played by Domhnall Gleeson..... I will presume he's a throw away character though... doesn't seem very important so far.

Is it worth keeping general Hux alive?
    Is he really that important?

Some of the canon Rebels tie-in novels imply that the First Order Stormtrooper Corps. was shaped by Hux's father.

I'd like to see him carry over to the next film, possibly even battle it off with kylo for favour amongst snoke (Plagueis)

Indeed. Sometimes though those side characters surviving can provide nice insights and development to other characters, while not exactly necessary for the story. I'm thinking specifically of Piett, who somehow avoided Vader's penchant for Force choking for long enough to be in two films under his direct command. It speaks a little about his skill and qualifications (as well as Vader's perception of Piett I suppose), but more about Vader's thoughts and feelings in regards to the "failures" that occurred in that period.

Again, I completely agree. You can't really assess this. But I'm just desperate to find new things to talk about. We're almost there though! :D

To be fair, no major villains died in Empire and it is one of the most successful movies. If Hux's death strengthens the story, then I agree he should be killed. But I hope he isn't just killed to mimic the first movie.

I was hoping that HUX would be around for the next film. However, he wants to branch out to other films and do stage.

I think he'll die. I'd like to see Hux some more but I would have like to see more of Tarkin but it just didn't make sense with the DS blowing up. I think Hux will go down with his "ship".

I think he has an ark, they should build his character. He is young and not nearly dead like Tarkin was,

I think he is there to be hated and killed off like Tarkin. But he seems to know his doom is coming at the end, unlike Tarkin. I could also see a possible backstab (literally) by Kylo.
EXT NIGHT - 329 - STARKILLER BASE - PARADE GROUNDS (SNOW) • Hux watches in horror as the Parade Ground falls away.

INT DAY - 330 - STARKILLER BASE - GREAT HALL • Hux has a final check-in with his boss.

Somemof the higher villains have to die to balance out the good guys.......right? I think it is a safe bet that Kylo survives,, unless JJ has a gigantic left field plot twist. Phasma comfirmed for 8. It's not looking good for Hux. Maybe he can make it to a escape pod......

I really like this idea. Fits well with how I envision him (a brash and cocky young General). I don't think he'll have the cool temperament of Tarkin either, so that should help set him apart.
