Jaleel White might as well have said 'Did I do that?' on live television when asked about possibly violating a nondisclosure agreement, because he just casually revealed that he has a role in the upcoming Star Wars Disney Plus series Skeleton Crew.

Last night at an NHL matchup between the Golden Knights and the Edmonton Oilers, White was a guest of honor as a fan of the latter team. When asked about future career endeavors, White revealed that he has a show coming up this year set in the galaxy far, far away:

White playing a pirate makes sense, considering that Vane (portrayed by Marti Matulis) from The Mandalorian Season 3 was spotted in the Skeleton Crew trailer that was exclusively shown to attendees of Star Wars Celebration Europe last month. Given that the show focuses on a group of kids lost in space, it might be more understandable that they would run into space pirates instead of the remains of the Galactic Empire.

Jaleel White is best known for his portrayal of Steve Urkel in the ABC/CBS sitcom Family Matters, a character initially introduced as a supporting character in the spin-off to Perfect Strangers. Though he was introduced halfway through the first season, Urkel became a series regular and served as the breakout role for White. In addition, he also voiced Sonic the Hedgehog (and a few supporting characters) in The Adventures of Sonic the HedgehogSonic the Hedgehog (also called SatAM by fans), and Sonic Underground.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is set to arrive on Disney Plus later this year. If White is to be believed (and the possibility exists that he could be mistaken), then the show will hit in November or December, but in any case, it's been confirmed that the series will arrive sometime this year.

Ok. From this moment on, I don't want to hear ANYBODY say a F'ING negative word about Jack Black and Lizzo in Mando. Ever. Urkel. Pirate Urkel.

Also... Am I in some sort of inter-dimensional timespace rip? Did Steve Urkel just break Star Wars news live from an NHL playoff game? I'm gonna take a nap...

While I do feel like Star Wars (like LOTR) is best when it's actors are relative unknowns, cameos can sometimes be fun.

I thought Lizzo and Jack Black weren't too distracting in their episode, especially considering their roles were clearly meant to be pretty light and a bit comedic. I expect Jaleel's will be similar.

On the other hand, it would be kind of incredible if Urkel manages to pull off a truly terrifying villain. That said... the guy definitely had a glow up already anyway. I'd imagine most audiences wouldn't even recognize him as Urkel at this point.

Hey, I completely agree on all points. I found Jack and Lizzo to be perfectly delightful, I felt their characters fit well into the story and their cameos were very consistent and on-brand for the show. I was frustrated by the negativity, and since the first examples of that I saw came from simply horrid and mean places, it sorta galvanized me to be suspect of anyone that criticized them. I'm a big fan of Capt. Bombadier and The Duchess.

Likewise, I'm largely just "bustin' balls" when it comes to Jaleel White. He is an accomplished actor and has done far and away beyond the Urkel character. I've always found him to be an interesting guy in interviews. Plus, as you said, it's a given he will be playing an alien species, he mentioned extensive make-up. It also seems as though he will be a recurring character, so that's cool. We may very well have a constant Bad Guy throughout the series.

    Whew. It's like a sawna....in here.

If he can pull it off like he used to pull up his suspenders then I'm all good.

Okay though, now I really am hoping his character somehow ends up with suspenders in his costume.

    Death Star blows up.

Jaleel's character standing on the surface of Yavin IV's moon: "Did I do that?"

Depends on the talent level of the costume designer. If done well it could work I suppose. Perhaps he'll be completely covered in prosthetics..........like the chia pet pirate grass version of Groot guy.

I wouldn't/couldn't be mad at it if done right. I mean, c'mon we had Ugnaut Smee, and Vane screamed, "Avast, Mandalorian!" An understated pair of space-pirate suspenders could be a fun little Easter egg.

I always thought Grass Wookie was a fitting description for The Pirate King, Gorian Shard. I reckon if we are ever gonna see him again, he would be a shrubbery on Nevarro.

I bet the barbershops a.k.a. grooming centers on his homeworld are hard core haha. Hedgtrimmers and hatchets for those tough underarm roots.

The director will also depend a lot on hisJaleel's presentation of course. I remember Mariah Carey as an abuse counselor in that movie about the abused black girl.....Princess I think it was. You could hardly tell it was Mariah Carey but she damned sure looked like an inner city drug counselor and she played it well. Quinten Tarantino is directorialy great at this, Pulpe Fiction being one example. Jaleel is pretty talented so we will see.

Yep and there is a stable of amazing directors on this show. Plus, the practical FX, makeup and wardrobe teams across SW series have been outstanding for the most part lately, and this show seems to be heavy on aliens, so even more chance it will be top-notch. I'm really excited for this show and I'm feeling that it's going to be the real FUN, kinda campy show as opposed to the more serious Ahsoka and the darker Acolyte.
