SPECULATION JJ using EU Solo twins?

I wonder why they removed Original and Optimistic?

 

Dumb and Epic Fail got deleted too, I think it's better this way, but I liked the original button and optimistic was a good one too.
Disagree is like the cloud, a new addition to the so called grey or yellow area.

 

I think the Solo twin should stay in the eu. We don't need that becoming a prediction of what path the movie will be taking, I want something new.

 

There's so much EU material that you simy aren't going to get anything completely "new and original."

You can have similar characters and themes but do the story very differently.

 

I definitely think JJ is using Jacen & Jaina as the template for Kylo Ren & Rey. His execution of this story will be his own interpretation.

 

Assuming JJ was even allowed that much creative freedom on a film where he is a hired hand, he's definitely the never read much if any EU and wasn't a huge prequel fan type.

I mean it's worth noting that the most successful EU material to date features characters entirely created for EU, and not from the OT time period.

Honestly as much as they carried on the story, my general feeling of everything post ROTJ is that it was about on par with your average grocery story paperback. I would be honestly shocked if they went out of their way to dig any of it up.

 

It's called PR dude. I'm sure he had meetings with George, but a whole awful lot of what George has to say about his vision is bs and everyone who knows this knows if you want the straight story talk to Gary Kurtz.

Similarly JJ is a great public speaker and sells a lot of people on the "mystery box" being more than just a lame gimmick to build hype and simultaneously keeping the lid on him being a very mediocre director.

I'm sure he's sincerely a Star Wars fan, but this is the guy who got hired to do NuTrek literally without having ever seen much of the original series or movies.

 

If anything we might get Solo siblings idk about twins but I don't really see the Driver/Ridley actual age gap being that big of a deal.

 

I hope we don't see twins. If they are siblings,I'm ok if it is older brother/younger sister but between Luke/Leia and the EU material, I think twins have been used enough

 

I'll laugh if it comes out that Ridley's character is related to nobody.

 

I think you may be on to something. There is no reason that the solo kids have to be Twins. Second, I think the Exar Kun idea is a great one. The name could be changed simply because they have altered his back story and moved him out of the pre episode 1 - 3 era into a modern era. In this case Kylo Ren is not Driver or Driver is not a solo kid.

If Driver is a solo and starts the film as a good guy then there has to be another bad guy. Also the sheer time required to set up a Hans son, back story, tension, fall from grace, would require this to be close to a three hour movie. I'm not sure they are willing to do that. In the EU Jason did not wake up one day evil. Something happened to him and it takes a lot of time to establish plot lines like this.

I have a question for the Forum I had not thought of before. Is the novel for Phantom menace considered canon or not? I ask because the novel has things about the Sith that is not in the movie and could play an important role in determining who our bad guy is.

 

The movie novels are canon where they line up with the movies. So anything not in the movies but is in the books, not canon.

 

The first question we must ask ourselves is: Is Star Wars bound to Skywalkers forever and ever?

 

If they use the Solo twin angle from the EU, I'll go along with it just fine. I'd rather they didn't, though.

I usually don't sweat things in Star Wars, but that's a question that I actually struggle with a little bit. I was totally on-board with the idea that the main story was the rise, fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker, so I feel that future episodes should stay with the Skywalker family. But at the same time, there's nothing wrong with concluding one story-line and beginning a new one within the same saga. So I don't know. I'm torn.

 

Well it could be that Driver is a Solo and Kylo and Uber is the awaked/ressurected dead master. Kylo may already have turned traitor his fall may be part of or explained by the rumored flashbacks.

 

The reason I ask is I believe the Novel for Phatom menace goes into the foundation of the whole rule of two thing. My question is what if Darth Bane, who is Canon, was not the only Sith to survive. This could create an entirely separate branch of the Sith sitting in hiding for this thousand years, like Palpatine was? The possibility exists, but I am unclear as to what of Darth Bane is Canon and what is not?
