You are right, he was misquoted.

My hope for Aftermath characters stands even more, because this is like three years after Endor.

    Young Indiana Jones style M'lady.
Grunberg as Snap wowing swarms of young Resistance pilots with tales of the falling Empire and working near Han Solo and Chewbacca.

So, Jon Favreau’s TV show is set 7 years after the Battle of Yavin, right? That’s 4 years before Finn is born. I hope we get to meet an unknown human family struggling to get by on one of the Remnant Empire breading worlds (that's a thing, right?), only to (in season 4?) have their son (children?) abducted by the can’t-believe-it’s-not-the-Empire.

I looked up year 7 ABY at wookipedia, but I don’t remember many of the canon or Legends stuff that are supposed to happen that year…

Also, I haven’t read ANY of the Disney era books yet, so… are there anything from those we should be familiar with going into the TV show?

Nope, there's nothing. Aftermath trilogy is a year between Endor and going into Battle of Jakku, Bloodline six years prior to TFA and Before Awakening even closer to TFA. Everything else is pretty much blank canvas.

the only thing the books might help with is just understanding the political climate post-ABY.
and what happened to the Empire's remnants.
we get a lot of hints of that between Aftermath and Bloodline.

but much of that can be caught up on rather quickly, i'm guessing.

I've been wanting a live action Star Wars series since I was a kid watching Battlestar Galactica (the 1978 one) and Buck Rogers. This is awesome!

Has it been announced if Disney+ series will be released as full seasons like Netflix or weekly episodes like Star Trek on CBS?
