SPECULATION Kylo Ren fixing his lightsaber ??

much as i love that moment and it breaks my heart, it shows too much, i think: tips the hand too far.
i'm glad we see Ren break down on the bridge rather than in the Falcon; it's more unexpected and the stakes are higher without it having been watered by a previous scene of him falling apart. he can't cry through the whole movie! hahahahaha

 

That's what I think too. It showed too much too soon. Cutting it keeps you wondering just how far he'll go and will it be too late to redeem him.

 

Eh ...I don't disagree with what you are saying but him standing in the doorway of the cockpit would go down in the ST when all is said and done as iconic but now its like "oh well thats just a deleted scene". Sort of a missed opportunity.

 

Kylo Ren's lightsaber was poorly constructed. He is still learning, that is why the blade was fuzzy, and not sharp like the Skywalker blade. So in ep.8 I would assume he constructs a new lightsaber that is slightly better, as he has been further trained. Whether or not it was destroyed.

so we know in our hearts it exists, it's canon, and we can self-insert in now.

The blade is like that because the crystal inside is cracked. His lightsaber in The last Jedi is unchanged.

 

I think people expect him to be redeemed by the end of VIII or in IX.

@FN-3263827 the novel keeps all the deleted stuff in it, so it is not completely removed.

 

I would love to see a lightsaber being built on screen. Remember there was a cut scene from Return of the Jedi showing Luke building his green saber. Having Kylo building a new saber would be really cool.

Using broken pieces in project is poor craftsmanship.

 

Unless he wanted and unstable blade for some type of advantage or even for aesthetics. However it is mentioned in the visual dictionary it isn't made with the finest craftsmanship ever but my main point was he still has the same one.

 

He's a Knight, so of course he wants a saber that looks like an actual sword! Personally I think that was always the intent of his character design, so they needed a way to explain why it looks that way.

 

Exactly. Rough, aggressive, unpolished. Its REALLY for aesthetics when it comes down to his character design.

 

Yeah That's the vibes I get as well. There was a reason for the cracked crystal.

 

That new pinball image has him kneeling like a Knight too with his saber, and J.J said his look was princely. Definitely intended for aesthetics.

 

Yeah I love it. The medieval look is great.
