Damn it guys, the LA Times is on to us. We all know the movie sucks. Some of you have been really committed to convincing people that the movie is good, but the game is up. The Feds are closing in. Pack up your things and leave. Just flee. There's no time to take anything or anyone with you.

That's interesting. I was speculating whether Rey's abilities were "injected" into her by the Force so she was like Anakin's Chosen One, but the Force awakened in her (increased) later on rather from birth.

Does Snoke feel the awakening before or after the Starkiller weapon has been used?

Snoke felt it even before Rey did anything, that was his first encounter with Kylo and Hux, after the Jakku thing. That awakening is not necessarily bound to a character, actually the little column named three Kylo, Finn and Rey, but the title is The FORCE awakens. Everybody that is connected to the force got a buff.

I agree, the movie is done, there is no tool to change it.
Many people are disappointed with the movie and I agree that some fans exaggerating.
My friendly advice for people who dislike TFA: in the end of the day it's just "a movie"
I try to enjoy the movie for what it's worth and stop worrying, if it doesn't work, I will skip the movie.

Can we finally out Count Dooku as Darth Abrams or whatever his name was, and ban him as well?

I just addressed his banning in another thread, and was told to contact the site staff privately.

I don't know who Darth Abrams is, but Dooku is expressing his/her opinion. There's no way to know if they're trolling. I will say that they do seem to be heavily invested in a movie they hate. Spending a lot of time in this sub forum to tell everyone how much they hate the movie.

Star Wars is just like any other series that's gotten long in the tooth.

The further it gets away from the original source material, the worse it becomes.

This also applies to other things like music for example.

How many times does an artist burst on the scene and come out with a great album?

Then how often is this followed up by another equally regarded chart-topping record?

Red Hot Chili Peppers were great with Blood Sugar Sex Magik in 1991.

But every album after that, the music progressively got worse, and worse.

The reason for this is that it's almost impossible to re-capture lightning in a bottle.

Lucas got it with Star Wars, TESB, and I don't give a damn what the haters say, ROTJ as well.

Yet with the entire PT, even the flanneled one himself couldn't recapture the magic; did anybody realistically think JJ could?

It's the 11th hour, and Star Wars has entered Friday the 13th Part 8 territory.

Oh well, at least we've got the OOT on 4K to look forward to.

I honestly don't think you believe that.

What if we give some people some problems other than mental? Lets say we make Kylo a drug addict. Show him sniffing coke or something? He drops the mask, sucks down a big line, then puts the mask back on?

A very true statement. (Californication does have some sweet tracks on it. Especially the funk jams that weren't the singles like 'I like dirt.')

But the comparison to SWep7 isn't a fair one. One of the triumphs of this film is that it goes, and very deliberately so, back to the roots of what to many is SW. Have it written by the same guy who did fan fave ep5, bringing back a lot of puppetry and old school practical stunts and effects. There's even Phil Tipett stop motion in there as well. It's not just JJ. Anyways, to me it worked. The RHCP decline into boring F/M radio singalongs did not.

Before I saw the first teaser to this new film I felt like you about the PT. Though maybe not as bitter. I do revisit the films and on a technical level there are marvelous scenes in all three of them.
But as films they did not work for me. I was never invested in the characters and felt a lot of acting talent was wasted on the most inept execution of the potentially best piece of story in the entire saga up till now; the fall of a hero. Lucas may like to present himself as an artist or auteur (let's be fair here, he's not exactly Cassavetes) but the writing and story execution of the PT were atrocious.

This new one focusses so much on the emotions of the characters that the 'bigger!' louder!' cgi phantasms that could have been in the hands of a PT era Lucas (acrobatic parkour duels between lots of light vs dark jedi, big space battles, a ground assault on a planet sized weapon with scores of CGI troopers and so on) , are now being deliberately glossed over and demoted to mere backdrops. Instead they did an conscious effort to make you believe in and care for these fairy tale characters. It's not about destroying Starkiller base, it's about a father being killed by his son and two protagonists waking up to their stereotypical destiny. About evil wizards in ridiculous black outfits and good mentors and a hokey religion. I felt that feeling restored in the cinema and I hope the next films deliver on this one's promise.

I'm with you on that one. Man, that would be great! An untempered with episode 4(k)! restoration. Fingers crossed on that one.

It seems as there are a lot of people out there using social media for "Shock Value"

I realized I was contributing to the paychecks of some of these just by clicking on their negative videos to try and hear a different opinion....most of them go on a stretch to bash the film...then, I looked more carefully at most of the channels. To my surprise...or lack of...they were posting mostly shock value videos. You click, they get the view, they get money.

If you see click bait or troll bait titles on YouTube...don't click them...it encourages them and pays them.

With social media having evolved to what it is now, you see a lot of resistance to conformity (if you see it that way) and other such things. People either don't want to have their own opinion, looking to others to form one, or forge an opinion so bizarre that they bait you into clicking for either attention, trolling, or profit.

    ______________________

The movie wasn't perfect...but it didn't 'accidentally' set records...and it certainly beats most films of similar genre produced in the past 10-15 years.

If I bought a Corvette and then linked a video in a Corvette forum posting all the little things I didn't particularly like about it (whether they were truly an issue or not in my mind), with the attitude that the entirety of the car "sucked"...I'd get tons of views and comments. If I were profiting off of a YouTube channel...well that would be easy money. Sure it'd ruin any reputation I'd hope of having online...but there are many channels that profit off of doing exactly that...

    ____________________

I, as well, hate the "Admit it"-style writings. I see it as passive aggressive...
and anything I see as passive aggressive online, imo, is either a troll....or attempting clickbait.
Sad part is...when you have that urge to wish to punch that passive aggressive person in the throat simply from reading the title...they have already won...:(

You know i had some feelings that she was too good at everything but then i kept thinking to myself and remembered that the force itself inherently is kind of Bs so what she is able to do in the movie is not out of a place with the story and universe that she lives in. I"ve seem people do grandeur and outlandish things with the force in other Star Wars stories like Bastila's battle meditation in Knights of the Old Republic. She's a rather young inexperienced jedi with very powerful force ability or how Kyle Katarn keeps playing hot potatoe whether he even has the force at all.

IMO nothing to warrant a ban. He didn't like TFA though. That's for sure.
