Article should be titled: "Admit it - you know this is just a clickbait title"

He is performing textbook trolling. His use of sweeping generalizations to cloak personal shots at those who hold opinions contrary to his own is straight from Internet Trolling 101. Given that he is blessed with both an expansive vocabulary and a clear ability to articulate, he is more than capable of expressing his disdain for the movie without diminishing the opinions of others around him in doing so. The fact that he *has* elected to do so represents his choice to troll, hence, others labeling him as such.

That right there, calling people who disagree with him mindless sheeple, is the definition of trolling.

Lol, well... I didn't want to say it.

In all seriousness people like the movie. We all would have IF WE NEVER SEEN STAR WARS before. I'd say the young people who haven't watched the OT more than 10 times loved it and the ones who have seen the OT over 100 are like...

We're both veterans of the PT basher vs gusher war but its interesting for me to see things as a TFA gusher now.

The one thing I never tried to do during the PT days or the current TFA days is convince anyone their opinion is wrong. I think the bashers are genuine as they just don't like the movie the same way that I like the movie.

What I always enjoyed debating is specific issues as I think critics are making too much of the TFA plot stealing from ANH.

To me a SW movie is always about the characters, their arc, and the payoff at the end while the story is background music.

ESB is my favorite SW movie but it doesn't really have a plot? Vader is chasing the Falcon and Luke trains with Yoda. But Kershner does such a great job of getting inside and developing the characters, the movie wows me everytime. And the payoff: Luke & Leia staring as the Falcon pulls away at the end gets me everytime.

Which leads me to TFA as the destruction of Starkiller Base is not the payoff unlike ANH where the destruction of the Death Star IS the payoff.

The payoff is finding Luke Skywalker at the end with Rey and Luke coming face to face for the first time to essentially tie the OT & ST together . if this doesn't work for you, then the movie probably will never work for you.

Rey is also the key to TFA as if she resonates with you you'll love the movie, if she doesn't you won't. Rey is different then Luke in ANH where she never wants to leave cause something bad happened in that flashback that she doesn't want to embrace the force. Luke wants to in ANH but its his uncle that's holding him back. Once he embraces the force he's all in cause he had a normal childhood compared to Rey where something bad happened.

That's why I say its easy to say TFA is the same as ANH, but if you dig deeper within the characters its not as the main lead is on a different path and the payoff is different. ANH ending leaves me satisfied while TFA leaves me intrigued.

Sorry for the long post, hopefully it makes sense!

OK, I thought you were stating how Count Dooku understood your post, which was:
That's how I understood your post.

I guess I don't understand what your post meant if it didn't mean what Count Dooku replied with.

Nah, some people are just insatiable snobs. The film had some flaws(just like every Star Wars film), but it was magical.

    OK...so you were.

I'm not certain how you can determine the quality of my refinement in critical analysis of art quality so rapidly.
If it is easier to believe that I simply lack a culture or skill in the arts for you instead of accepting that art has a subjective layer to it even among equally skilled critics, then so be it.

Also; I'm 36 years old, grew up on Star Wars, watched ROTJ in the theaters originally, have watched Star Wars OT more than 100 times at this point, have studied every part of their making, have read every version of the script which was possible to find, am versed in camera operation and cinematography, and I think that Star Wars 7 was a great Star Wars movie.

Folks can like this film; they can hate this film.
My like of it, however, is not because I lack an education in the craft of its production, nor an understanding of its medium or heritage.

THEN WHY DO YOU LIKE IT? Because of the opening scrawl? Because you have been waiting 30 years for a Christmas gift and if the pet rock showed up with an I love you from mom you will still like it?

I think you are one in the same with me and DFF, count dooku and others. You are just holding on to the past and no matter what blast they threw at the wall.... whatever sticked you was gonna like for nostalgia reasons. Don't get me started. I know your type. In 6 months you will be bashing the film and screaming unfair.

I can only speak for myself but as an OT fan who saw SW in 1977, I love this movie from a certain POV.

What I mean is I don't think TFA comes close to the OT nor did I expect it cause its hard to duplicate greatness. But I loved the movie cause it created new characters I'm interested in and tied the OT characters nicely in a GFFA. Unlike the PT where I did not connect with the characters so I just never cared.

I will never say TFA is masterpiece as I would probably agree with many here that the reviews have been gushing a bit too much. But who cares? I honestly don't remember if TPM had good or bad early reviews to sway fans, as I just remember leaving the theater that night in 1999 and nothing resonated with me. The opposite happened with TFA where alot of things resonated me.

Isn't that what movies are all about?

I understand why people say it is a recreation of ANH, but it really only uses those elements. Hell, you could say Peter Jackson cheated on Lord of the Rings because he copied archetypes put forward by ANH. The story has the same elements, but it is a different story. We are going to go through the phase where everyone is going to start hating this film because they want to be "smarter" than everyone else.

289 out of 306 Professional reviews are POSITIVE.

That's a freaking consensus if there ever was one.

Despite your best efforts to make people feel as miserably as you do, it's NOT WORKING.

We're sorry you didn't like it. WE DID.

There is no reason for a death star 3.0 Jedi77.... period. The PLOT POINT should have been with the struggle between the light and dark side. Not a super weapon.

Hey I'm Darth Blahblah the baddest in the galaxy. Hey I'm Luke Skywalker the baddest in the galaxy....

    Whats that light... oh crap!

Its crazy and they keep making it crazier. I already told everyone 8's plot! A galaxy destroyer! Boy that is gonna make the movie even better.

I respect your opinion. Not on the same page this time.

I will bow out with this. Everytime they make a super weapon that is more powerful than a Jedi or Sith they undermine what the story should be about and undermine the Jedi and Sith Legacy. Period. PERIOD. PERIOD PERIOD

Since we are talking consensus so eagerly I think it's fair to say that the rewarmed superweapon plotline is the movie's one flaw most people agree on.
However I think the reason why a consensus also exists that the movie is fairly good despite that plot point is that it actually just functions as
a setting for the real narrative going on between our capital protagonist and villain.
In fact I think the movie goes too far out of its way to further reduce the dramatic weight of the brief, almost sketched nature of that setting and sacrifices some energy that could have easily been had in the third act.
The core story is about two lost youngsters *becoming* a jedi and a sith respectively.

You make a valid point when you say that you hate it when editorials try to instruct others on what to think and I greatly agree yet I am also happy in part that many PT bashers are getting a taste of their own medicine. For as long as I can remember, people have been bashing PT fans and always quoting that said article considered those movies bad, that said artist said it sucked ect ect. You couldn't say you loved the prequels without random haters trying to ruin your hype of the movie by rubbing in your face how any people thought said movies were bad or how many articles called them trash. Now that TFA has also been considered bad by alot of people, PT haters get angry and they don't want anyone to say TFA sucked. How many times have I heard ''Oh those movies were so bad that even Mark Hamill disliked them'' yet now it is a crime to say that TFA was a bad movie. People should let other people like what they like and let them dislike what they want without trying to force their point of view on others just because others feel the same way. If I consider Godzilla movies to be awesome then that's my problem and nobody has to take every single chance they get to rub it in that Godzilla movies suck. The pendulum moves both ways and if I was treated this way by Godzilla haters, they can't then get angry if they all turn out to be King Kong fans and then others tell them that Kong sucks. We should respect others if we want to recieve the same amount of respect.

I don't think trying to help people stuck in Plato's cave see things for what they really are constitutes trolling.

The truth will set you free....and as painful and unpleasant as it might be, the truth is The Force Awakens sucks.

All in my opinion, of course. :)

I don't want to sound selfish but I want a mono e mono match (however you say it). Now we have to have a dark side user that is more powerful than destroying 4 planets for that said match to make me feel like rooting for Rocky(One of the best films in history)

I feel like PT Vader when I say, "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"

lol I don't know. whatever. Its star wars I guess.
