I know others had a problem with DJ's voice, but I liked it. It was obviously altered to make him stutter super-quickly in parts, which matched his really fast (also digitally enhanced) hand motions. Almost as if one part of him is moving much faster than other parts of him, he's a walking paradox in many ways.

Very quick mind & is unnaturally dextrous, but he's a little slow on the uptake with his ethics, personal hygiene, and manner. He's not well put-together, I have the feeling he's going to just fly apart some day.

They love the resistance. You're demanding an extra-narrative explanation as to why they didn't save the children because it would be certain the children would be punished.

    Here's my extra-narrative answer:

The children lied. "There are too many of them" or "they overpowered us". After they just overpowered half of the Canto Bight police force, who wouldn't believe the children.

The kids were trained at alerting. They had obviously done it before. So no alerting means, you know.....

Except that the police force knew there were just 2 of them - Finn and Rose. You're making things up to fit your argument.

Except that I'm not, but you are. The movie even shows us that the police guards were alerted about 2 people sneaking into the casino.

    2 people. Specifically.

    He's ambiguous.........ambivalent. Isn't that the purpose?

I'm also very curious about your claim that they enhanced DJ's voice and movement. If they did, I didn't notice. So....wow. Where did they mention this? If it is your observation: well spotted :)

They don't alert because they like the resistance and if they got punished or not who cares. Their faces weren't showing any bruises :p I actually said that

Even if its because they like the Resistance, it still doesn't make them able to lie about Finn and Rose.

You expect Disney to show children with bruises?

I just assumed they did. That's not a natural stutter, it's just too fast. And the fingers are obviously way too fast- when he's typing in the code and also selecting a pick or key blank from his belt. None of this is natural motion, it's enhanced. Subtly, so that he still seems human. I thought it was genius filmmaking, myself.

Who says they lied? Perhaps they told the truth and their master was merciful. It could be anything really, but in the end unimportant, because it doesn't serve the story. Whether the boy told the truth or not, it didn't hinder him from playing with his friends and his toys, nor did it prevent him from picking up the broom and dreaming about the future and the stars. :)

That's my view on it, at least.

I think the movie was pretty straight on point with the message they wanted to send about Canto Bight - rich people are bad and not merciful.

Broom boy is literally keeping Rose's ring with a hidden Resistance symbol that he only shows the audience. But I'm sure he told his master the truth........LOL.

As was already mentioned here I also didn't like the costumes snd the whole feel was too much like from some other kind of movie taking place in casino in Sanremo or so. The Fathier chase looked terribly (poor CGI) and the whole CB sequence felt rushed.

And that's why the Organas, both Bail and Leia, people of huge power and wealth, are constantly portrayed as positive characters. Riiiight...

And you expect a general audience to understand that? They could easily have chosen to have Canto Bight be a planet of poor criminals instead. Animal cruelty is, if you take a look around the world, not something unique to rich countries. The message was obvious, but it actually doesn't matter since portraying rich people as bad is one of the biggest clichés in Hollywood.

Umm, that was before Disney bought Star Wars.

Both Bail and Leia appeared in SW films made by Disney (Rogue One and TFA/TLJ respectively) and other non-film stories and they are still rich, wise, defenders of democracy, etc. Nothing has changed in that regard.

But they were not the focal points of those movies. They both had tiny cameos; what do you expect them to do? Also, you forget one tiny detail: They are also politicians. Even if many politicians are rich, people are generally more accepting of rich politicians rather than rich businessmen.

Should I expect them to ignore the literal text of the film and press it into the service of some reductive bias?
    Oh the huge manatee.
