Y'all, today has just been too good, and I'm not even looking for any nonsense today, BUT, I am sorry, when I saw this, and their title, I just had to giggle with some delight... Screenshot_20230407-144516~2.png

    WORST DAY EVER? They say!
Again, sorry, but I find joy in the fact that everything celebrated today, in all it's inclusive glory, is just burning the tiny minds of all the bigoted haters, like these redneck d!@ks. Anybody who can't find joy today just doesn't deserve it.

Ah....but I am curious how will they be using Rey in this film. If it's a 15 year time jump. Then chances are she will have taught other students by now (ie. Finn & Jannah) left them to do the teaching and maybe she might be reserved just as Jedi Master or some administration role.

One of the brilliant things I loved in TROS was how they made Jannah and the other FO deserters Force Sensitive. Meaning they already have some kind of military and combat training. So even if they gain some Jedi training . So they won't be learning from scratch and it will be believable when they go into combat or pick things up quickly.

I suspect that the film will be a set up for the post TROS universe. It will be pushed significantly forward so that the school should be up and running yet the Jedi are very small yet powerful to be seen as some kind of threat to powers that be that don't want them to interfere .

This is a really good interview. KK makes some excellent statements and clarifies several things that have been unclear. Jon and Dave did a great interview with IGN also.

Really happy with all the announcements, yes I always hope for a KOTOR movie and when I don’t get one there is always a tinge of disappointment, but these choices are great.
Love the idea of seeing Rey rebuild the Jedi order, we never got to see Luke do that so I’m glad they are doing it with Rey.
I like the idea of ending the Mando Verse with a film, and really happy Filloni is getting the opportunity to direct it.
The Mangold project is the one that most intrigues me, great director telling a story in a new era and a blank canvas of the formation of the Jedi. Really can’t wait for that.
Also think it’s a the right call not pressing ahead with the Waititi film. I love some of his films but making Star Wars into a wacky comedy was never a good idea.
Also I like the idea that 2 of these films are going to be based around force users.

The only negative I have is that Lucas film has a terrible record of announcing things and then never going anywhere. So while the projects sound cool, I can easily see at least one of these projects never happening, and wouldn’t be surprised if none of them did.

but as announcements I’m excited, I just hope they actually happen.

Thanks a million for posting! Wow that really sounds juicy, I don't know if I can contain my excitement for the release date. Looks as if we are going to get some real 'meat and potatoes' stories. I always said that the ideal SW film would be ST characters in the PT setting. I am really happy that KK is in charge and I hope she remains so as long the Rey era goes on. Because she clearly wants the films to be some kind of depth and substance to the films. And not just a fan insert/wishfullment fantasy for certain males.

Hmmm, another Rey film...? I quite liked her as a character, just didn't like how she was developed. Simply making her a former student of Luke would have gone a long way to showing why she was already powerful.

Nevermind... Will this film do well? I put it at 50/50. I know a lot of fans that have thrown the towel in after the ST...

    Let's see.

Apologies, I meant someone that survived his temple massacre. She could have been a former student (back then) and then re-connected with him in the present timeline. I just didn't like the fact she was amazing without any former training.

Kylo could have spared her and then that connection would have/could have had more meaning.

Leia training her felt like an afterthought as she was already quite powerful.

    Anyway, that ship has sailed...

Hoping that for some, this Rey film does for the ST what Clone Wars did for the PT. I’ve seen quite a few tweets from people excited that they’re giving Rey a better conclusion than TROS, and while I personally love TROS, it’s nice to see people approach this openly and with optimism. This is the most excited I’ve been for Star Wars in a very long time and it’s a pretty great feeling.

I wonder if Grogu will survive and become one of Rey's students? He was basically a toddler in Mandalorian and could be the equivalent of a 6-7 years old human child by the time of New Jedi Order (Mando himself will likely be dead by then).

Rey teaching new Jedi sounds cool to me, and I'm very happy to get more Rey-stories! But I'm also very curious to learn what the conflicts will be about post TROS. Seems kind of difficult to know where to go with the story at this point, but I'm here for it.

    For about five minutes!
    She was more Leia's student.

You know....it wouldn't surprise me if they brought Palpatine back. According to the TROS novel (I didn't read it, spoke to someone who did) they actually hinted that he still 'wasn't really gone'.

Guess what? The comic series The Rise of Kylo Ren revealed that Ben/Kylo ...didn't destroy Luke's temple after all. Unfortunately DLF have left too much of this character's back story to supplementary material...presumably because they wanted him to be hated.

Was Luke Yoda's student? Rey spent significantly more time with Luke than Luke spent with Obi-Wan or Yoda.
He killed Han Solo, his own father. So there's plenty of reason not to like Ben Solo. Anyway, this thread isn't about Kylo Ren.

I have mixed feelings on this all. Part of this is excitement, but the overwhelming emotion is cynicism. Star Wars is now in the "fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you," category of fandoms I enjoy. How many Star Wars movies have been announced and not made it to the big screen in the past five years or so? Why should I be excited for another slew of those? How many movies were cancelled because the director's post-announcement film failed? If Indiana Jones 5 flops, do you really think they'll continue with James Manigold's Dawn of the Jedi movie?

I say this not to curtail the excitement - we can and SHOULD be excited that Lucasfilm wants to explore all of these places and timelines, and this is THE time to be excited about Star Wars - but we also need to be aware that Lucasfilm doesn't have the best record delivering on the movie front.

Now, all of that said, of these projects, I do think Dave Filoni's will be made because he has the most groundwork if nothing else.

On the Rey project, I'll be more excited if/when they officially announce Finn's return. Outside of that, I understand and even share the feelings of disappointment that fans have about Rey getting what Luke should have (and historically had) gotten, and how it further feels like it invalidates the OT's accomplishments and arcs. I do think that there can be a melding of the two, but a movie is the wrong form for that sort of thing.

Overall, I'm in a "we'll see how this pans out" sort of mood. Only two of the three sound interesting to me, and only one of those two is interesting because of the concept and characters (and it's NOT the Rey one*), so we'll see how it turns out.

*The most exciting aspect about the Rey one isn't even that Rey is returning, it's that we're FINALLY moving past TROS.
