SPECULATION Luke's Lightsaber hidden in ??..

I know ROTJ had a deleted scene where they were in water. It would make since that they would being plasma as long as the pommel was water tight. Laser maybe not as you would want given light is refracted in water.

It is too slender to hide ole greeny.

There was concept art pics of rope wrapped sticks with crystal atop them said to be ancient light sabres. Not sure how they would work. There is a wide outside chance he adapted his sabre to the ancient design.

 

Qui Gonn and Obi Wan swam to Gunga City and their Sabres were just fine
The now non canon original Clone Wars shorts had Kit Fisto fighting underwater with ignited sabre.

 

I know I'm one of the few out on the no-lightsaber of an Ahch-To island but I'm really getting the feeling that Luke doesn't have one or has put it away forever and refuses to use it again. The only instance I could see him using it is towards the end of the movie, as a last resort/coming to Jesus moment to really help.save someone or take someone out.

 

Agreed. He's not using it on Ach-to, and if he uses it at all, it's going to be a last act sort of thing.

 

I’ve yet to see this anywhere, but I have a sneaking suspicion that R2 has Luke’s lightsaber again, just like he did in ROTJ.

A while back, there was a story I read where in TFA, JJ had originally wanted BB-8 to go to the island. Rian came to him and asked if R2 could go in his place. Maybe Rian wanted to use this as a tribute to the OT?

Just my two cents, but I won’t be surprised if this does indeed happen!

 

It's interesting, but if R2 does have the saber, then it could be that Luke used his connection with the Kyber to access R2 and switch him on at the right time... who knows. I don't think that is the case, but I like throwing stuff I think about out here.
